"I tried CR2 file of G9. Image processor works for me. Did you run any action in Image Processor?"

No Action. Saved to folder different from source folder, on a separate data volume reserved for image files.

"Also did you change the default Camera Raw Preferences?"

Yes. I want sharpening to apply only to the preview. I use sidecar files, and I have set my own preferences for the cache folder location. None of this should matter, as the behavior of the Image Processor script should not depend on any of these things.

Note that my OSX 10.5+ is VERY different from 10.4+. Using exactly the same settings, the process runs perfectly in CS3. It's only the new CS4 that breaks this. I have also disabled the optional OpenGL contribution from my Radeon 3870 video card, as the animation effects are thus far more annoying to me than helpful.

Thanks for the suggestions, however. Does anyone know how Adobe can be made aware of this? Do they read these forums?

Ken,

None of this should matter,

Before your frustration causes you to become overly argumentative, you may want to consider that your interlocutor may actually know a bit more than you seem to think she does. Kathy may even be part of the Adobe team, for all you know. ;)

Does anyone know how Adobe can be made aware of this? Do they read these
forums?

Use the Contact link at the top of this page Ken. Adobe does not officially monitor these forums. We are not addressing Adobe here. Some Adobe staff members do participate when they can, on their own time and dime, strictly as volunteers, out of the goodness of their hearts.

Sorry, I can't be of any further assistance, as I'm not touching Leopard with a ten-foot pole.

Ken,

I still can not find out your issues here. You may try report this to adobe through this link.

Also one simple workaround for you, could be create a close action and run this action in Image Processor.

I've recently bought photoshop cs4 to use on my macbook, but I also use version 8.0 at work. I'm having trouble printing off files which I have created in cs4, on the work computer using the older version of photoshop. I was just wondering if the two versions were compatible or if I needed to save files created in cs4 differently so they work in the older version?

michelle,

If you are creating files in CS4 and implementing features not used in older versions, you may have problem either opening or printing the files in the older version.

If the work computer is also yours, you can do a second installation of your CS4 software on that machine and activate it -- as long as you are the user on both machines, and you don't use the software simultaneously on both machines.

Thanks Neil,

But unfortunately I don't own the work computer so I wouldn't be able to do that. All I really want to do is open the file in the older version and print it off. I was wondering if maybe when working in the newer version, if I flatten the image or save it a certain way I would be able to use it to print in the older version.

the file will open no problem especially if you save with maximize compatibility.

you can save a flattened version if you wish.

Hi

I'm using Photoshop CS3 on a 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Mac running 10.5.5. I have 4 GB of RAM installed and over 400 GB of space available on the HD.

Photoshop frequently crashes when trying to place Quark eps files into a new document. It particularly seems to happen with larger files.

Could this simply be a memory problem, or is anyone aware of anything I could do to cure it?

Many thanks for any help.

Paul,

It could be a problem with the actual construction of the XPress EPS -- in my experience, there is often a lot of extraneous or improperly created data in these particular files. What happens if you place a .pdf instead?

or what if you just open the EPS?

Thank you for your responses.

Neil - Placing pdfs seems to be fine. I'm usually only using these as positionals anyway, so I could just start working with pdfs instead of Quark eps files. It just always irritates me when something doesn't work and I can't explain it!

Buko - You can't open a Quark eps directly - you'd have to place it or import it into another document, so I'm not quite sure what you mean?

Thanks again.

He meant dragging the Quark EPS onto the Photoshop icon.

Hi all of you. I have the same problem and I have a Faroese keyboard. And I have struggled to find a solution so I can use the brush keyboard - shortcut to de- or increase the brush size. In my Faroese keyboard it is not possible - but if I go the system preference panel and go to "international" and then push "english" up above faroese so "english" is on top (could be swedish or norwegian), then my keyboard is english! And the brush size shortcuts in Photoshop work!!
Maybe you all knew this - but i didn't!

Ha! Yes, you would think so, Ramón. :-) Aurelon does tend to be pretty slow updating or fixing things.

It is a darn expensive filter, considering it does just one thing, but I do use it on practically every image I work on. I'm from the old retouching school where you learned on the job since there wasn't anywhere that taught digital retouching and color. I always thought that the Color Correction tool on the Scitex work stations was fabulous. This filter does a great job replicating it, with the bonus of being able to do more than one color correction at a time.

Anyway, I did discover that if you use only the Command+ or Command- keys to increase or decrease the size of the image window, it does properly stay below the Options bar. It's only when you manually drag the window underneath with the mouse that it disappears.

Buko:

Are you using Bridge's "Get Photos …" or something else to download the images from your card?

Can you try using the other one instead?

Hello. I am having issues with paths and making selections.
Example: I used to create a pth of a shape with another path shape inside.
From the paths palette I could command click the path and the resulting selection would be of both paths. So lets say a doughnut with the hole in the center would be created.

For some reason when I do this now only the outside shape is selected and not the center.

Any help would be truly appreciated.

Thanks
Stephen

With the path tool selected, command-click (select with the white arrow/path selection too) the inside path. Then click the "exclude" button in the path options bar.

Just new to CS4...strange- after applying some function (brightness/contrast, etc.) to an open window, it goes up under the top marquee so I can't grab the top to move it. Have to tell it to "fit on screen" to see the top again. Must be a better solution- it's a real nuisance.

thanks for any suggestions.

I'm running Photoshop 8 on a new MacBook Pro. I've connected an external monitor. It's a NEC LCD screen. I can drag over Apple applications like iPhoto and iMovie to work n in the big screen but Photoshop won't drag across, apart from just the tool bar.

Help please?
