Acabou-se o segredo!
© Marilena Trujillo

Me chama...
Sinto frio amor meu, que frio... Que frio!
Minha boca o seu beijo deseja e clama.

Noite longa pra nós dois, você aí, eu aqui,
Saudosos, ansiosos, acesos...

¡Tú aquí no estás, no estás, no estás!

Tu voz repite mi nombre antes y después...

Ah esos mundos nuestros, el tuyo y el mío,
Separados por kilómetros crueles, impuestos,
Hoy quería tanto tu regazo, esa voz suave...

¡Tú no estás aquí, no estás, no estás!...

Aldın benden ölümün alacağı her şeyi

Soldurmasın seni Allah'ım
Aşkın nefesine
Alev alev dönen âh nefesine

Sen, aşkın adı tutup saramadığım
Koklayamadığım gül
Bırak içimizde ağlasın bu zamansız çocuk
Seni neresine koysam ki gönlümün

When it is necessary I work in un-tabbed mode. But the tabs are more convenient in 90% of the times.

I agree with you and that's why I find the "n-up" Arrangement button so useful.

It really does work instantaneously here — literally in a blink of the eye.

You can also select all the layers you want to copy and in the layers panel flyout choose dup layers and then target the the doc you want them in in the pull down.

Saving the Icon and Thumbnails adds a minimal amount to the file-size and is just for the convenience of the user, the people with whom he shares files and when burning files to CDs.

Could you provide a few more details and examples in real world situations. That would make their use somewhat clearer to me, and help me determine if I need to choose to use any of them.

You honestly need to try the options for yourself. Some people use the Finder and like to see icons of their Photoshop files on the Desktop and recipients of CDs mostly want to see icons too.

I suggest that you leave them checked and with "Always Save" —except for the Full Size preview.

Check out the Photoshop Help features (such as this one) for more info.

I seem to remember being told that the difference between the way that Photoshop and Illustrator handle CMYK is because Photoshop use LUTs which refer to L*ab; and Illustrator is unable to use the L*ab space.

But as Neil said, it really makes no difference in practical terms.

I've run into many situations where it does make a difference. One is where you are specifying solid tints in Quark or InDesign, where some of those builds use builds that are spec'd to the tenth of a percentage. It would be nice to be able to, when trying to match them exactly in Ps, spec at exactly the same resolution. Now I have to back to the layout app and modify the build to suit Ps.

The other is when printing to really good sheetfed presses that can hold and print a visible dot less than one percent. That can read as a zero percentage in Ps and yet still print as the slightest density on press. In the days of film generated plates, this was never a problem but it is today.

From: PeterK.@adobeforums.com

A tenth of a percentage really is "no difference." If you have a 50% dot versus a 50.1% dot, they both may give you a 70% on press and vary by 1 or 2 percent across the press anyway (or more, depending on the printing method and conditions on press). Spending time consolidating fractions of a percentage is a waste of time.
When working with 8-bit images, you can only have 256 discrete values in any one channel, so you may in effect have 2 values for any one percentage. Call them .5% if you want, but how this RIPs out may vary by more than differing fractions of a percent as well, depending on what kind of RIP/software/output you are using. And again, on press, the variations will cancel these differences out even further.
Seeing colours specifically spec'd out in fractions of a percent makes it really easy to pick out designers who don't understand print.
Btw, there are no dots less than 1% that read as zero in Photoshop. There are three discrete values for 1%, and how they come out depends on the factors I mentioned above.

I'm not saying that you can see a tenth of a percentage, but you really can see five tenths of a percentage especially in the highlights. Actually I've seen situations all too often where even the difference between a dithered conversion in Ps to CMYK - even though the numbers read the same as the build in the layout app, in the shadows, is completely visible in print.

Yes, it's true that you can only have 256 values in an eight bit image. Divide that into the on hundred steps in the CMYK ink percentage scale, and you've got many in between numbers, including steps below one percent that read as zero.

As far as designers being stupid - well some are, but a lot of them just spec the Pantone color as a CMYK build, relying on the app to generate the numbers, and the app generates in between numbers because the L*a*b values are out ( I believe) to the 1/100th of a value, even though we can't spec those that way either.

as a scratch disk?

Check which ports the MacBook Pro which you are buying has because I understand that some laptops no longer have Firewire ports.

Providing that you have FW, an FW800 external drive would work.

Ask OWC for help with this too.

The first thing to try would be to re-set the prefs..

Are you doing normal maintenance regularly (Repair Permissions, Cocktail or Onyx, & DiskWarrior)?

Other things to consider:

How much free space do you have on your HDs? How much RAM? Do you have a separate HD for Scratch?

Have you tried to create a new User's account and run Photoshop from there?

Font Management situation?

This really helps. My resize was set to 8x10 pixels instead of inches. Then it kept defaulting to pixels when I would type any number in the box. To solve that problem you need to click on Window and select Info from the dropdown box. Then you have to click on the little arrow in the upper right hand corner of the Info box and select Info Panel Options. Then you can change the default to "inches". There must be an easier way to do that but I'm not sure what it is.

There IS an easier way to do that:

Just Control click on the Rulers and choose Inches (or any one of the other choices).

Then delete the value in Width and type only a number; tab to the Height box and type another number; tab and exit — and the dimensions are now expressed in your chosen Ruler units.

How about enlarge the font size to 1000pt?
Can you see the cursor? It seems something wrong with the font size

The test font I used is Lucida Grande, Regular, 12 pt, no anti-aliasing. Why do you feel something is wrong with it? Regardless, I can certainly try a larger font.

Then, there are some of us who wait, and read user reports and info from
reliable sources about how to mitigate disaster, how to fix problems,
and/or how to avoid problems altogether.

Then, there's another group of us who've been around long enough to know that 99% of ALL user reported problems are caused by said user. If my installs lived or died by the MacFixit sword, I'd never install a thing.

I take user problem reports with a huge grain of salt. Good thing ... I mean, just LOOK at all these Photoshop problems being reported here!

There's a difference between being cautious and overly paranoid. When you have proper backups, cautious is more than you need.

But you're welcome ... ;)

Are your file sizes similar in size to mine?

we will have like 30 pics open at once in Photoshop

Yes, and bigger, but I don't have that many open. In any case, your scratch disk will be very busy, but around 100 GB should still be enough.

You can do the partitioning in Admin Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management.

Awesome. Thanks to Freeagent and everyone else who helped with this issue. You guys are awesome! Its great there are forums like this with knowledgeable people. You would think that after dropping $700 on CS3 adobe would offer more tech support but I guess thats a typical software company for you!
Anyhow, thanks again everyone!

Hi H.Kent Shirley , did u try to update via Updater or via patcher ? Patcher can be download from Adobe.com > download > updates.

Close all the applications before installing and then try to install again.

The OGL sharpness is a known item

That's what I thought. Something has to give when x image pixels are represented by x/y screen pixels.

F,

Just turn off OGL unless you need it for something specific. Sharpness with OGL is a known problem and for many at all resoltuions. But as a test, you can open the same image in other apps that use OGL (and I have tried 10 others) and --- ta da -- no problem.

that doesn't seem like any kind of solution. i though OGL was a big part of this upgrade and many of the newest coolest features rely on it...? which is it?

DM

Only advice I can give based on the knowledge that I have. For me, improves overall speed and clears bluryness issue. I do all my 3D stuff in AE, so not really a good person on this topic --- right tool for the job.

As for not any kind of solution... Correct. The PS team will fix the code, it is an important part of the CS4 value proposition. 523 does address several of the OGL issues that I (and others) facing.

No question, folks are working the issues.

The trick is: when the 11.0.2 will be out?

That's right, Chris... and even when I turn it off, it seems erratic as to whether or not the scaling works. I just tried it again and couldn't get it to work without the program error message even when I turned it off. I suspect that if I reboot the whole machine it might work but I'm not sure. Something is buggy in there.

It might be this easy. Keep in mind I'm accustomed to doing this two versions back. I'm incredibly behind on several deadlines and don't have time to do the testing necessary to see if I have it or not. I'm working between multiple sites etc. and am getting inconsistent results atm *but* your idea has worked in some cases. Where it isn't it might be cache-related (although I dumped). Thank you. I'll try to get back with a definitive yes or more details on what's not working. Thank you for answering what seems a really goofy question.

For earlier posts: 1) yes, I'm using "Save for Web & Devices..." and 2) I was unable to get adding a layer for the background color to work, but, as I mention above, I'm scrambling right now and it's really easy for something which should be obvious whizzing right past me, what with new Photoshop on one hand and on the other my rushing.

Hi, I am new to Photoshop and am learning my way through it, but I can't figure this one out. I am taking stills from an animation of a land based radar setup for monitoring sea ice. In photoshop, I use the path tool to delineate the edge of the landfast ice, and I want to save the line only with the pixel coordinates, so I can put that line on any image from the animations and it will be in the same place. Thanks
Josh

Willy; I downloaded the fonts. Thank you. We'll be testing them shortly (as soon as my QE partner gets back from lunch :-).

Just to confirm that fonts are the cause: could you remove all the fonts that are not Microsoft fonts, reboot, then launch Photoshop? If it works, that should confirm that the fonts are the cause.

(why are people not reading the thread before posting?)

Ron - we've seen the incomplete cursor. We've shown it to NVidia, repeatedly. But we can't fix the bug in their driver code.

Dennis - again, the fix has to come from NVidia, the bug is in their code. NVidia thinks they now have it fixed in all of their drivers. If it isn't fixed on your system, then you have to contact NVidia and give them details so they can track down whatever it is that they missed. Ignore your laptop manufacturer and get the driver from NVidia.

(No, Adobe Gamma is dead and buried, not pining for the fjords....)

Have you asked about this on the SDK mailing list?
Or contacted the Adobe product manager who works with third party plugin developers?

We maintain pretty active communication with third party developers.

[fnftwo] staircase wth my idea of a preview

A long time ago while riding out in the countryside ran across this older style farm house and decided to buy it. Although it was in good shape over all we decided to call in the carpenters and other workers and some decorators for their help and opinions and see what we all could come up with in the way of changing it some what but at the same time retaining the overall looks of the house. This is what the main room looked like when we first got it but it was shades of blue so first thing to do was to put on a coat of a goldish tone for an overall idea of what it may look like later on.
The very first thing we did was to add on some bedrooms upstairs for all of the kids so that they could have their own domains and give us some peace at times as with a houseful of  young ones it sure can be noisy and then the animals all needed some place to hide from them from time to time as they can get over rambunctious while playing.
One of the guys suggested instead of a regular staircase that we utilize some of the logs from the many large trees that were on the property since they had to be cut down anyway to make room for a new driveway and make a pine pole staircase.Doing that would have held up construction as the logs would need time to be dried and peeled so traded them for some already cut and dried logs with a local logger and now we have a beautiful natural staircase and we decided to pick up the gold tones from in the woods and go with that for our color theme throughout the main room and flooring.
It was decided upon to use a stucco on some of the walls for eye appeal ( but found that it is hard to keep dusted) and some off white accents like on the new front door and cushions of the rattan furniture that we found at a local consignment shop and really got a good buy on.
Later on we will redo the dining room but think that the room that we have which is behind the dining room and is used for the kids playroom will stay the same for now until they have grown up a bit. Well better go and get the baby before there is no fur left on the poor dog and also get the new camera away from the other one.  So good bye for now  Sandy
