Eres pasado, presente y futuro…
Jamás olvidarte, eres el manantial donde bebo
Pasión, ternura y amor….

Sana Çıkar Tüm Yollarım

O narin eline el süremeden
Sürmeli gözlerini süzemeden
Altın saçlarına hiç değemeden
Gidiyorum sana çıkar yollarım
İçimde bir sızı yoktur ilacım
Ne senden vaz geçtim nede sevginden
Bu yüzden birtanem ayrılma benden
Bu şehrin yağmurları benim göz yaşım
Yarim elde ben dillerde kalmışım
Bir yol çizmişim buna kader yazmışım
Gidiyorum sana çıkar yollarım

*HayalDunyamiz* Yokluğun

deniz.gif

Yokluğun yüreğimin karanlığına itilmiş şehri

Gözyaşın, yalnızlığımın bulanık nehri

Ateşten çığlıklar yükseliyor gökyüzüne

Gözyaşında bestelenmiş hıçkırıklar süzülüyor yüreğine

Yanardağları sıcak ellerin sanıyor üşüyen ellerim

Bir damla gözyaşına kanıyor kuruyan çöllerim

Hasretinin zehiri sürülüyor yavan ekmeğime

Bulutlardan acılar süzülüyor kanayan yüreğime

Yorgun dönüyor sana yolladığım elçiler

Soluyor günden güne dilimdeki sana dair tüm heceler

Yokluğun, sanki ölümün soğuk nefesi

Gözyaşın, isyanımın acıya tutsak edilmiş son adresi

Yalnızlıktan türemiş cümlelerle anıyorum adını

Her yudumda başka tadıyorum ayrılığın acısını

Her rüzgarla yüzüme savrulan kimsesizliğim

Her nefeste yeniden yıkıldığım sensizliğim

Nice ağıtlar yakıyorum her bir soluğumda

Gözyaşımla zincirleri eritiyorum yalnızlık koğuşunda

Uçurumların gölgesinde tutunacak bir dal ararım kendime

Ölmeden taze dallardan bir sal yaparım yüreğime

Yokluğuna yenilmiş asker gibi sevdamla göm beni

Gözyaşında ıslanmış hançer gibi sil beni.

Hello,

I have a serious issue with Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1 (I had it before updating to 7.0.1) :

When I'm working, every 10-20 minutes, Photoshop makes randomly the computer reboot ...
My computer is a bit old, but it was a time i didn't have any problem, and no other software or game makes my computer reboot (I tried to reinstall windows (currently XP SP3) but this didn't change anything).

Is there a way to fix that please ? I'm very bothered, because i always lose data ...

Thanks a lot in advance :)

usually rebooting is a sign of a hardware problem. check to see if it's really rebooting or throwing a blue screen and rebooting by going into my computer> properties> advanced> startup & recovery and uncheck "automatically restart". if it still reboots, you have something wrong hardware wise, usually ram, cpu, mobo related. if it goes to a blue screen error, you probably have a bad driver somewhere.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm absolutely sure it doesn't show any BSOD, but i don't think it is due to an hardware problem, because it's the only software that makes the computer rebooting (even softwares and games that uses a lot of CPU, RAM or GPU does't makes it rebooting).

software doesn't make a modern operating system reboot. xp and vista are "process isolated" which means that when a process (application) goes down, it can't take the rest down with it. something photoshop is doing is exposing a hardware problem you have. other apps may not hit that problem, or hit it in the same way, but PS does.

my last upgrade was due to something similar where only ps made the system reboot. i've since reused that old ram and the cpu in my daughter's system, which leads me to believe there was a fault somewhere on the mobo (after about 4 years of use).

The issue of 'losing tools' is _not solved_ with Wacom afaik. I still have the issue and have checked occasionally for newer Wacom drivers. I'll check again today.

I stilll had CS3 installed and there was some notes that might be part of the problem, but my attempt to uninstall CS3 failed 3 times.

However, it does not mention my Vista 64 bit system. The site reads XP SP2 and above but unless it reads Vista 64 bit I am not biting. Vista gets very cranky over having certified drivers.

I haven't seen the video yet but that will be great if Photoshop can handle lenticular by itself. Normally we use Photoshop to do the prep work and then use 3rd party software to handle the interlacing.

Flip is actually easier then 3D. You just need to interlace two pictures and then combine them. My guess is you can treat the two pictures as the assets for 3D and let CS4 do the interlacing for you if it can do that.

In case you need to have print them, I found this company does a great job, www.newcyberian.com. This is a dvd duplication company but they also do lenticular printing for the DVD slip covers.

CS4 a disaster? No, I don't think so. It has its problems for sure and its really hard to figure all out in betatests because of the million different computers out there.
See my configuration: <http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b7022d/21> for example. I am really sure that this kind of configuration is not for the common standard user.
If have also some problems and I am very sure that this will be fixed if it is possible.
I'm also involed in producing software ( computer games ) and I know what I am talking about.
You can do a lot with betatests but not all. Even when now all the availible graphic cards are added.

I think CS4 is a huge step ahead and for me the first time buying the Extended Edition to get all the cool 3d tools.
Of course there are other programs which might be better for 3d editing such as Bodypaint but you know what...it would cost me a lot more.
Photoshop is the standard I need and when I can get an edition where I can paint my 3d models and get the flexibility to use all photoshop functions ( I don't thing Bodypaint has the same functionallity ) for some bucks ( Upgrade ) more and even can paint directly or use the textures which are also stored in the same psd that is amazing.
As my texture coordinates are usally correct when I start using PS in the texturing process I am a lot more flexible. No more searching for the right position or switching between the applications.

To sum it up. Yes there might be other programs which can do some tasks faster then PS but I think with the complete functionality PS is alone. And this kind of programs are designed for just that task. PS wants to do all.
So before blaming Adobe, give them some time and help them to fix upcoming issues. Bugsearching is always not very easy in software development.

Greethings from Germany,

Matthias

Why have adobe stripped out the The Picture Package functions, Bridge CS4 is no substitute and light room 2 don't cut it either.
As a busy photographic studio Not having picture package is a reason NOT to go to CS4. The GUI issues are a side show compared to the throwing away the best auto production on the market. Adobe talk about cutting of your own Nose to Spite....? unless I'm missing something, it's good night CS4 you aint got what Photographers need

Can someone give me the technical and/or practical reasons as to why many of the Artistic filters are not available and are "grayed out" if an image is in 16 bit mode? This limitation has always puzzled me and is continued in CS4, so I am assuming that Adobe intends things to be this way. Can anyone explain why Photoshop works this way for 16 bit images? Also, do you really gain anything by staying in 16 bit or lose any quality converting to 8 bit?

Because they are 8bit!, but I think you knew that already. ;-) In simple words: Most of these filters are a combination of threshold, edge detection, dilation and blur operations, with some Fractal Noise thrown in here and there and there is no benefit in having them run in 16bit, as in most cases they will completely overwrite the previous pixel values. It would be possible, though.

Also, do you really gain anything by staying in 16 bit or lose any quality

It all depends on what you do. Higher bit depths provide greater precision which is in particular relevant for photo touch-up and color corrections. Depending on the resolution of your image it also affects smoothness of gradation for gradients, blurs and so on, which is a simple math thing - when the distance spanned by a gradation is greater then the number of available pixel values, not every pixel can have a unique color any more. Therefore neighboring pixels may be assigned the same colors (banding) or interwoven with alternating pixel colors (dithering). Once that has happened, there is no way to restore the original smooth gradients, so you may wish to keep that in mind...

OK then, this partially explains it, but if it is possible to make these filters work in 16 bit, then why don't they? I always assume that if something in PS is a certain way, then that is how Adobe intends me to do it. But the "8 bit only" filters thing seems to be at odds with keeping images at their highest quality throughout the work flow.

Looks like you have some valid text in the Type layer and got stuck with one of those symbol fonts like Digbats/WebDings. You got stuck with these fonts since you have the "Missing Font Protection" checked in the Type preference panel. If you turn off the "Missing Glyph Protection" in the Type preference, the problem will go away.

However, two hour later, CS4 crashed, spent 30 senconds communicating with Microsoft and lost an hour's work. An error message pointed to incompatible drivers, and that it had disabled GPU drivers. I have no idea what that means, but it reinforces the sense that this is a beta product released far too soon.

I have a 146 gig hard drive with 3 gigs of ram. Im currently using PS10 as part of CS3 to finish a job and will then be loading CS4 with the new Photoshop, which I have. I tried Vista Ultimate and after nearly cracking up, went back to XP Pro SP3. I had a Nec Multisynch CRT and decided to go for a new LCD monitora Lacie 320, which Im most unhappy with.

The problem is screen resolution. According to the Lacie specs, monitors should be set at 1600 x 1200. At that resolution, Photoshop as well as the rest of the CS, and the visuals that I create in PS, are all minuscule, and my three websites look stupid. I called Lacie tech support, and they said that I could go down to 1400 x 1050 but no further without distortion.

There are three problems: 1) Even with adjustments in XP, I still have to keep my nose to the screen at 1400 x 1050 to see PS menus, read PS help etc., and would like the resolution to be at 1024 x 768; 2) indeed, 48+ % of computer users have monitors set at 1024 x 768 or lower and will have the pleasure of seeing what I cannot see and would like to see; 3) 38 % of computer users have monitors set at 1920 x 1200 and will see my work as postage stamps, I think

Qs:

1) Should I go for another LCD monitor that will give me an undistorted 1024 x 768, if such a thing exists?

2) Any other solution invited.

LCDs MUST be run at their native resolution especially for work as
critical as Photoshop.

My advice...get yourself to the eye doctor.

3) Test a monitor before buying so that it suits your eyes.

While I wasn't looking for a high end display for color critical work, I just found a perfectly usable piece of junk that has roughly the same resolution, roughly the same size, and probably made by the same child labor in China... but with a better response time and higher contrast ratio for about $150. That's a little cheaper than the $950 you paid.

The question about 'an undistorted 1024 x 768, if such a thing exists?' indicates you could do a bit more shopping. There are plenty of options out there.

No. These issues occur on other systems as well. However, there is no clear way to reproduce this, so it never got resolved during testing. I've had this happen a number of times. In my cases it seems to depend on how long the program has been used without switching layouts and possibly whether e.g. the adjustment panel has been used multiple times during a session. but as I said - this is sporadic and seems arbitrary. I'd keep watching it and when you encounter a situation where it makes sense, write a note on the bug report form ( <http://www.adobe.com/go/wish> ).

Hi
Had no idea where I was going with this one but wanted to do something with this neat mask.
Since I was away I had to do a mass delete on here when I got home last night as the computer kept freezing up and think it was that there was just way too much mail coming in.
I am going to be really tied up with real life stuff for the next few days and if all goes well longer so I will send in somethings as I can take a break and play in psp but doubt if I will have time to reply to any emails, If anyone wants a reply make sure you send it straight to me and not through a group if possilbe so that Iwill get it and I will try to get back to you as soon as I can  Sandy

Oops, I forgot to put an E at the end of the text!  Oh well, it is going the way it is....

This was an easy tutorial, and I probably might have spelled this correctly if it was in English.  I have no idea what legere means!  LOL.

[Photoshop-Haven] Tech question regarding scanning

I appreciatively request wisdom regarding a few questions on scanning (and PS cleanup of some of them). Especially on just how high a resolution scan I really need to do.

I have to scan about 25-40 images from several historical books. All are printed b&w, none are color. The scans will include the (historical) captions in elegant script writing. Some of the images are reproductions of woodcuts. The others are halftone reproductions of old paintings. (All are long out of copyright).

The woodcut scans don't require much in PS. Cropping, cleaning up in levels, and maybe a little sharpening. Same with the halftones, except that I'm not sure whether it's better to try to get good "levels" by adjusting the scan, or doing it later in PS.

The images will be used in a book, first in downloadable electronic form, probably PDF and Kindle. Then later the same book will be put out as a physical book.

I've done some test scans. My scanner is an Epson Stylus Photo RX620 flatbed. For "destination image type" I have a choice of 16-bit Grayscale, 8-bit Grayscale, and "B&W." So far I've used the B&W setting for the woodcuts, and it worked fine. As for the stuff that's half-toned, I don't know whether 8-bit is good enough, or whether I should do 16-bit Grayscale.

I also have questions about format of the resulting scan. I have a choice of Bitmap, JPG, multi-Tiff (whatever that is), PDF, or Tiff. I assume that a purist would want the scan in Tiff (or multi-Tiff?) because it's lossless and I think you can make a JPG or PDF as needed later. I dunno anything about Bitmap.

I expect that a professional will later take the text which we're writing, and put it together with the images, doing cleanup and formatting as needed.

I also have questions, significant question, about resolution. How much resolution do I REALLY need for the intended use of a downloadable book and eventually a physical book? My scanner gives me settings all the way up to 12,800 dpi! But even at 2,400 dpi, the scans which are typically 4" x 4" are enormous files, and my poor computer really chokes on them. For my purpose, what's the real minimum scan I need to use? Can I get away with 600 dpi?

So, the questions:

1. For the woodcuts, which output file type (Bitmap...Tiff? What?) to choose? And what dpi resolution?
2. For the already-half toned images, which output file type (Bitmap...Tiff? What?) to choose? And what dpi resolution?
3. Should I try to get a scan result that looks perfect, or figure on cleaning up levels and such in PS later?

And any other comments, advice, admonitions, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
