You should not have to put the graphic file into Word for the printer
to print it. Just open the printer program and select the file from
the memory stick. The printer program probably has the tools to orient
the graphic to the page. Check the printer manual, if you have access
to it, or, if not, go to the printer manufacturer's web site for
information on how to and what file types it can handle.
To determine size, first decide how big the final print image should
be in inches, millimeters or whatever. Using 1 mm = 0.03937007874
inch, resolution for print should be between 150 to 300 pixels per
inch or, approximately, 5.906 to 11.811 pixels per mm. Multiply your
base unit, inches or millimeters by the appropriate number for each
side of the image and you have the size in pixels that the image must
be for print.
When you set the size and rsolution in your graphics program, PSP or
PS, set both the pixel dimensions and the resolution in pixels per
inch or mm.
To see it correctly displayed in your graphics program, choose to view
'original' or 'actual' from the view menu. any other view distorts the
image dimensions or the colors and shapes within the image. 'Fit to
screen' is best for overall dimensions, but not colors. Check the
clors in 'actual' view.
