Where did you get the CS4 trial version. My information is that Adobe
has not released the trial version yet. It is supposedly going to be out
sometime in mid November. If you got it from some site other than Adobe,
it's is not the release version of CS4 it's most likely a hacked version
of a beta version and can't be expected to run right.

Can`t Adobe just tell us, how we should set up the preferences of our
nvidia cards?

They should. Adobe is breaking new ground by relying on GPUs and they should do as much as they can to take their customers by the hand on this. I'm no idiot when it comes to configuring a GPU and I still often find issues with set up. On one screen I can set one option; on another screen I can undo/over-write that option. I'm sure this can be a messy territory for many.

John, it's possible to download the regular version and just leave it in "trial" mode for 30 days. That's what I did when installing to my secondary computer, as I'm not sure I'll keep this upgrade unless they can get the lag bugs worked out.

Just to say that I have the same problem with my paid for CS4 upgrade. If the screen magnification is not at one of the prefered values like 25% or 33% then the image is blurry. Strangely, as has been said, if you have it in a floating window and you pick it up to move it then it instantly goes sharp and goes blurry again the moment you release it. This is with a Wacom pen, just the same as with the mouse.

just do another re-format...

It will be faster than trying to source the issue and you'll be up and running in an hour or so.

Yes, and so?

I think Chris' advice makes good sense. This thing seems like a mess. And you did say

plz try finding a way to completely and utterly uninstall absolutely everything....

C Craw, consider an external USB HD and copy all the pix and other important info to that, then reformat.

Do CHKDISK before reformatting to be sure there are no bad sectors on C drive.

Paul, are you running XP?

Derrick,

Yes XP sp3. Until CS4 I've gotten by without sp3, and I suspect XP is the worse for the update.

Photoshop 10-E does not consistently save the state of the animation window. Often it opens in Timeline mode, which means I have to set it to Frames mode, change the loop mode, and change the default frame timing, before I can even start work. I'm guessing that it's designed to save state because it does so about half the time. This is not a big issue but it's annoying and it's just one of many small annoyances that are making this version a pain in the ass to use.
I've tried saving a workspace but it doesn't appear to save the state of the animation window, at least not consistently.
Any suggestions about how to fix this?

John,

Adobe makes it very easy to return CS4. However, they won't sell anything CS3 since CS4 has been released. If you want CS4 you need to check with Amazon or some other third party vendor.

I'm having a similar problem. When I open Photoshop, I get an "Owl Orphanage: Photoshop.exe - Entry Point Not Found" Window with this error: "The procedure entry point ?DecodeTile@JP2KImage@@QAEJJJJJJ@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library JP2KLib.dll."

I removed the only add-on plugin I've installed (PhotoKit Sharpener) and the problem remained. I removed the preferences file and let Photoshop regenerate a new one. That works for exactly one loading of Photoshop. Every time I open Photoshop after that, I get the error again.

Any ideas?

If I go full screen with an image and come back to windowed view the top menu bar that contains the hand, view, rotate, arrange documents and screen mode items is lost and replaced with that part of the full screen image that was in that location. There is no way of recovering the menu bar, which is still invisibly active, unless CS4 is restarted.

Otherwise CS4 is not working too bad except for the trailing images following window movements, jerky rotate and the fact that Topaz adjust throws out of memory messages unless Photoshop memory is reduced to 700Mb.
