[Photoshop-Haven] Re: Now I may get a Mac....Mac clone that is.

Jye:
this is a very risky thing to do. Apple is suing the company from breaking Apple's OS license for doing this, and if Apple succeeds in its suit, it is possible that all parties involved, including people who purchased computers from Psystar, could be made parties in the suit (you could be sued by Apple for knowingly purchasing something that violated their licensing). Not only that, but it is quite possible that you would not be able to do updates to the OS because it is not installed on an Apple built Mac computer. It's cheap, but very risky.

Your better option, because it would be completely legal, is to purchase a one or two year-old Mac or iMac, or even a refurbished Mac. There are all sorts of authorized Mac resellers that have such machines. You would be getting a perfectly good Mac that would run what you wanted, at a lot less than the cost of a brand new Mac. Yes, to get a decent machine you'd pay more than what Psystar is asking, but you'd be perfect legal and not have to worry that Apple won't support what you bought and won't sue you.

Good luck.

I'll most likely slap photoshop and stuff on it just to get used to it. What do you guys think? hey $599 compared to whatever Macs cost now how could I pass this up?
