It sounds like your Dad was using one of my favorite slide films -- Agfachrome 50.
Try the basic color adjustment options, available from the menu bar across the top of the screen:
Image => Adjustments => Variations...
Image => Adjustments => Color Balance...
Image => Adjustments => Hue/Saturation...
Image => Adjustments => Replace Color...
and other adjustments related to color.
