Many thanks for this link, George. I downloaded ISO PR NR this morning
and tried it on a couple of images with noise issues and it works very
well.

I haven't tried any other third-party noise reduction so only have
CS3's noise reduction filter to compare it with, and it is a big
improvement on that. Using the "Normal" setting, noise was drastically
reduced with no detrimental effects on the rest of the image as far as
I can see, and I will be using it as my default noise reduction method
in future.
