[photoshop-beginners] Removing a large stain from a scanned color photo

Good day, all and thanks for reading. I was given a color photo on
which someone spilled grape juice. It left a stain approximately 2
inches in diameter. Unfortunately it is in a complex area of the
photograph. It partially covers a person's face and a multicolored
bckground. I attempted to use the Spot Healing Tool and the Clone Tool
in CS2. The results were dissappointing. I am guessing that it is
mostly my inability to use the tools properly.

I would appreciate any assistance on the best tool/technique to remove
the stain using CS2.

Regards,
Bob Watson
