If Adobe told me it IS legit,
I guess.
You're not legal anyway if you bought a 7.0 to CS3 upgrade. You don't
have a legal copy of Photoshop 7.0.
XD true. technically, you still need that transfer of license form from your friend.

After replacing my Hard drive on a Dell PC as a last resort, reinstalling PSCS4 extended (with a prior purchase of additional RAM and the new Nvieda video card - Quadro CX) - things started to work normally again. So one by one I reinstalled various additonal programs and plug in's. ALL stopped working again after installion of just one Nik plugs in- Sharpener Pro 3. After a complete de installation of PSCS4 and then the entire suite - twice - it was still not running correctly. My IT friend then checked my registry, etc, and NIK not completely gone from the system. After he deleting all these hidden files, and a forth re installion, I am finally fully functional!! It has been a battle since November! But NIK plug in definely the blame. It was very sticky. Cheers at last. Judith

It's regular photoshop 6. If you've got a layer selected and go to Layer>Adjust>Levels, that's what i'm trying to alter.
Let's say I have two layers. If I'm using the line tool on one layer, and then go to ajust the Upper Output Level of the second layer to '0' it makes that layer turn all black.
However, if instead of using the line tool I use the polygon lasso tool to draw some items, trying to change the level of the other layer does not work in the same manner as above.

Are you selecting any pixels with the Polygon Lasso?

the lasso tools aren't drawing tools. they're selection tools. use the line tool, pen tool, brush or some other drawing tool.

Well, I need to draw a polygon. Basically I'm trying to do some light sabre effects, and in some frames it's fanning so a simple line won't work well.

I can't enable the GPU aceleration in Photoshop CS4 64bits.
This problem is happening since I installed my new GTX295, but I think this should be compatible with PS CS4
(I'm running the newest Forceware 182.22)
Thanks

I agree to a point, Bart, but John is absolutely right when he cautions about logos being printed with all sorts of processes. Some companies have an outline form of their logo for black and white (copier and printer) reproduction, but most make do with only one logo that can be reproduced faithfully using virtually any method (Coke).
As a rule, gradients are avoided, but not always. The UPS color logo is a good example of a gradient, or shaded blend, being used successfully. However, on the UPS forms, they use an outline version.
I have no idea what the OP is planning to do with the company's logo. Adding a gradient isn't necessarily always wrong, but it has to be carefully considered. I also wonder if this alteration of the logo is a permanent change, since it's normally considered bad form to tweak a logo if you don't intend to use the new look on everything.

for no explicable reason PS3 has stopped responding to a variety of commands and particularly to 'print'. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling
both photoshop and the Epson printer software - all to no avail. Could the problem lie with the Operating system which is Windows Vista Home Premium and if so how should I best proceed ?

I am having the same problem that someone else on here had. I did not see an answer to the issue. Ok so I have Photoshop CS4, and for some crazy reason when I add a Layer mask to a layer, and then try to paint with black to "erase" a portion of the image, it DOES erase, BUT not fully! It is as if the transparency is set to like 95%, and I can still see a very light semi transparent ghosted portion of the image. It's as if it is not fully hiding the pixels. I have checked and I definitely have the opacity of the brush set to 100% and I am using black and not a shade of grey. Any ideas??
CS3 still does this perfectly.
I am running XP pro sp3 32bit. 3gig ram. Intel Pentium 4

Thank you in advance

Yes, you can create an action using Inset Menu Item and select your script or you could create a shortcut Edit - Keyboard Shortcuts or you could even amend your script so they show in the Filter Menu.
If you are using CS4 you could use configurator and create a custom panel.

I have a black silhouette, and I want to lay a large headline over it so that the type is black when it's over the white background and changes to white as it moves over the black silhouette. The edges of the silhouette cut through the middle of a couple of the letters, so I can't do this letter-by-letter. I think there must be a simple way to do this that begins with rasterizing the text (which is the same as "create outlines" in Illustrator, right?), but I'm a new PS user and am 1) frustrated and 2) clueless. Thank you.

Evelyn,
Type the text in grey (R,G,B,=127,127,127) and then change the blend mode to something else than "normal" (experiment).

I wasn't going to guess what you'd want to do as the next step. Maybe you had 10 images with the same lid to crop before you would move on to the printing so need the same dimensions remaining for several iterations.
If you find yourself using the same reference object(s) over and over and so need the same crop dimensions, then create yourself a preset:
After you type in the dimensions (like 4 in x 1 mm) then click the down-arrow by the crop-tool in the options bar (not the tool bar further below) and choose the little new-page icon on the right of the dropdown of presets and you can save the current numbers as a new preset for use from the drop down any time. You can even save a blanked-out crop tool option set as a preset.
However, instead of blanking out the dimensions, just use the Selection tool marquee (the dotted-line toolbar icon) followed by Image / Crop to remove excess image before printing.

Bought CS4 and can't use it.
I'm running Vista Buisiness.
My laptop won't up-date to SP1.(error #80246007)
Tried several times.
I have plenty of hard-drive space.
Went thru Troubleshooting and everything is in order.
I bought this laptop used and got no restore disk.
I know this isn't a MS Forum but I thought somebody might have had the same problem. Or maybe direct me to.....
Thanks,
Riley
