It is now in the Bridge Output section under "PDF". It is not a complete substitute.

You can load a plug-in from the goodies folder on the installation disk.

It seems pretty well established that this is in fact a driver issue. That the laptop manufacturers won't update their driver releases is of course no consolation to those affected.

the incomplete cursor in action

That reminds me of a video demonstration (can't recall where) that Adobe Gamma was in fact alive and well in CS3. They managed somehow to bring up the interface, but it immediately became clear that it didn't work. All sliders greyed out and completely frozen. But that didn't slow them down for a second - it went on for five minutes with a completely DOA Adobe Gamma.

I couldn't stop thinking of Monty Python's parrot sketch.

Who cares just as long as you run a 64-bit OS, load up on RAM, and have access to fast disk.

Any name brand mobo an with Intel Core i7 processor should do. With CS4 it seems the graphics card is a more important consideration.

Absolutely it depends on the audience. I tend to agree with the sentiments posted by the other esteemed members but as designers/producers we must always be aware of our audience wishes/desires.

There is quite a large section of users that admire the bells/whistles and/or clients that what the latest cool Flashy features.

Anthony, I'm a member of the pre-release team that's been working with Adobe, so I had the latest build as of about a week ago. The update did fix a lot of the lagginess that I was seeing, but didn't help with the disappearing window content.

The latest ATI 9.2 drivers did fix the disappearing window content problem, although I still see a lot of distracting flickering while dragging the image around. The flickering lasts for two or three seconds, then finally settles down with the content visible. It's not right, but it's workable. Bottom line, the disappearing content does seem to be tied to driver problems and hopefully, ATI will eventually get it right.

Hi Kevin,

is this still an issue? Was anyone else able to reproduce this?
The screenshot looks realy strange. The (i) icon has no color at all and the tabs at the top are not seperated. I don't think that this has something to do with the font. Did the font smoothing fix the issue?
