Invoking the Free Transform function (CTRL + T, or from the Edit menu) will cause the Transform Bounding Box to appear.

If you want to see the TBB all the time, select your Move Tool. In the Options Bar check the box labeled "Show Transform Controls."

You just find the monitor's native resolution from the manual and set that value in Windows > Control Panel > Display properties > Settings.

Doesn't work John. Native resolution is 1680x1050 and that's not available and changing the "current" setting sets Vista off on a hissy fit where the monitor goes to sleep every few minutes - like an adolescent it says "monitor is going to sleep" and it does and like an adolescent one wants to slap it awake again.. According to HP when I download the latest driver and install the required resolution should appear in > Control panel>personalisation>display settings>advanced options > modes but it doesn't. Whether this is HP's fault or Microsoft's I daren't say but from experience Mr. Gates... Worse still with Nanny Vista it seems impossible to actually ascertain with any certainty what resolution the screen is set at. Older OS had a simple settings box which gave direct access.

if it's not listed, it's possible your current video card doesn't support that resolution.

Yes, you may be out of luck.

When you got the latest driver did you un-install the old one first?

Derek,
When you open control panel, personalization then display settings there is a "slider bar" there to adjust resolution from low to high. Your saying the slider bar is not there? As you adjust the slider bar the resolution will show just below it.

There is a "advance Settings" button that you click on to select the "monitor tab" to adjust the screen refresh rate. LCD's should be set to 60 Hertz.

Call HP. They will walk you thru it.

1. First off, web phots are relatively small, so have limited
reproduction value (except in other web pages...). Many photo sites
intentionally keep their photos pretty small for this reason. (no
larger than 500 - 600 pixels).

2. Watermarks can be quite discrete, but I prefer none at all.

3. Copyright does not require a watermark, or even a notice on the webpage.

4. It is, however, prudent to put a general copyright notice on the
webpages referring to the images. A reminder to those who don't pay
much attention to rights. (Eg: the younger generation who freely
exchange music/video/software without much care for copyright).

They can also often be discreet, and even artistic!

Why not post the URL and then you can get even more 'real' opinions!

Web galleries often use a Macromedia Flash application as that prevents
direct downloading of images.

On the other hand, some people don't like hanging around waiting for
Flash-heavy sites to stop showing off.

It keeps the honest (and lazy) honest.

IMHO, a small watermark can even be attractive, and for people who do
download them, a way to quickly distinguish them by source.

So am I!

It was a minor rollback, from the driver of Jan. to Dec. last year.
I've tested all Adobe applications and other programs and everything's back to normal. I won't update till ATI fixes their bugs though at this point with everything working, I've no reason to.

By the way, I also had another problem in both versions of Photoshop which has disappeared with the installation of the previous driver. My thumbnails for my shapes were all represented by an arrow. When clicked on, they would change to their appropriate shape. Sadly, I was blaming this on a bug in CS4 but as I know now....ATI is the culprit.

I hope this is also JoakimSjoo's problem and a driver rollback will solve it.

Bret: I can tell you have a problem with one of your fonts, which may be working in other apps, but Adobe products are more critical of fonts.

You might be able to go into each individual channel and use the dodge tool (try setting it for midtones and/or shadow tones) to lighten up the dark parts to match the surrounding area. Use a very soft big brush. This will maintain the original texture. Then once you've got each channel looking reasonably close, go into RGB mode and with a brush set to "color" mode, pick some of the surrounding blue colours and paint in some of that colour to tweak the area to match.

Well, I looked into all of the suggested programs from this thread, and went with Jim's suggestion, the free version of SyncBack. Thanks, Jim. One question I have for you, I set it up to verify that files are copied correctly (In the copy/delete tab). However, during backup, in the progress column, all it shows is scan and copy, not verify. Am I missing something here? My previous system, the older Retrospect 5.6, it would scan, copy, and verify, and it showed all the steps being done.

Part of your text goes over a white background, and part over a dark
background. So there is no one color that will work.

White text with a dark shadow under it will work. Or, white or yellow with
black borders.

You're not going to be able to do this with one color, unless you do it like
caption text, something like white text in a transparent gray box.
