Part of your text goes over a white background, and part over a dark
background. So there is no one color that will work.

White text with a dark shadow under it will work. Or, white or yellow with
black borders.

You're not going to be able to do this with one color, unless you do it like
caption text, something like white text in a transparent gray box.

In a word "no" - I'm awaiting answers from HP and ATI at present.

Slider bar does not have my screen's native resolution. HP claim that if install latest driver 1680x1050 will appear under "advanced" >show all modes. It doesn't. The computer/graphics card is less than a year old so ought not to have fallen over the outdated horizon.

Something is wrong somewhere. You most certainly should have that choice
available to you with a new video card.

You can check if it's a video memory problem by temporarily switch the number of colours to a low value like 256 or so.

If the desired pixel dimension is now available, it's probably memory.

download the latest drivers. read instructions for installation.

uninstall your current drivers. requires reboot.

when system comes back folow manufacturer's instructions on installing latest drivers. many drivers require you to say "NO" when windows wants to autoload them at startup when it discovers a "new" piece of hardware. you then go and run the installer provided by the manufacturer.

I have a very odd problem with the tools in Photoshop CS4 that only exists after watching a video. After watching a video online (You Tube, for example) or watching a video in Windows Media Player, all the tools stop functioning.

CPU: Core2Duo E6750 2.66GHz
Operating System: Windows Vista Ultimate - 32 bit
Memory: 2GB DDR2 800(PC2 6400)

CS4 opens without a problem. I can open any file (.psd, jpg, etc)and it loads. When I go to click on a tool, nothing happens. The only tool available is the "hand" tool. Nothing else works. None of the tools are dimmed out either.

I have found that by logging off and then logging back in, or restarting the computer clears the problem.

Anyone experience this problem????

Could this be the hand tool like when the space bar is pressed? Maybe the video turns that on. Hit it a few times and see if it clears.

I have many images with alpha channels that I need to use as a clipping path. Easy enough.

1. Turn alpha to selection
2. use selection as clipping path.

When I turn the alpha to a selection, I want anti-aliasing turned OFF. I want jagged edges. Where is this controlled?

Thanks,

Dean

Go into Quick mask (Q) and use levels (control L) to control how sharp you want your edges. Or if you really do want completely jagged edges Image/Adjustments/Threshold. Then hit Q again.

Not really necessary. Control G, Control E - just press them one after the other.

Just a tip :

sometimes it will seem it doesn't look the same after the merge down using a
style layer group

if that happens go into the effects palette and tick the blending mode boxes
options (blend as group)

If you have move tool (top one) you just left click on photo 1 and drag it to photo 2. Release and photo 1 is added as a new layer to photo 2. Adjust the opacity to see both images.

Cheers Curt,
I know that bit, what I am trying to get to is I've got one image open in Photoshop, but if I need to open another image latter say to change the sky, I go to File, Open then pick the image I want and open it, it comes up in photoshop but the 1st image cannot be seen to work on it or to move the second image to the first. I could move both images to a file and open both images together, but at the time I don't know which 2 images I need if any.
So how do I get the second image to appear on the same workspace as the first when I open it. have seen it happen on some tutorials but they dont show how they just seem to open it and its there, but when I do it, the same thing does not happen.
Alan

We are printing out some psd files that were sent to us on a laser printer . There are little dots of ink all over the page.. It seems that what photoshop outputs the printer doesn't think its pure white and is trying to print some color.. even when we change the background to transparent it still prints these dots of ink all over the page.. Indesign does not have this issue..

We have been trying to narrow this down for a while now.. Its as simple as creating a new psd..typing in text and hitting print..Bam little dots of ink all over the page.. Its like the printer thinks it should print some color even though the colors in ps are white or transparent..

Hard to explain..did that make sense??
any ideas?
Please help toner ain't cheap..

Hi, gang. Looks like I inadvertently set off a firestorm. Well, to put the original issue to rest at least, I spent an hour and a half on the phone with Adobe's Tech Support before realizing that I'm an idiot: My third-party plug-ins were the issue. Uninstalled one of them (OnOne...what was I thinking?!) and now everything's groovy.
