What is your RGB workspace in Photoshop? You will find this information under Edit > Color Settings.

If your work does not involve commercial printing, setting it to North American General Purpose may help.

I have updated my ATI FireGL V3100 with the latest ATI drivers (Windows XP
sp3 with 4GB RAM).

However, when I enable GNU in CS4 all of the images are garbled.

Anyway to fix this other than turning off OpenGL?

If I need to get a new video card to make this work, which is the most
stable card having the fewest bugs? I'd really like to get this to work.

Thanks

Mike

Jason

The educational version can be used commercially. The student version (lower price and stricter availability) cannot be used commercially.

It seems to me that 1908FP is the generic profile that was supplied by Dell.
These profiles may or may not work correctly with a particular monitor.

You need to buy one of the calibration programs and use it.

What's the dot release? Are you referring to the Photoshop update?

Thanks.

I have 2 layers. One is a photo, and the other is a black and white layer I want to use as a mask for the photo. How do I do this?

TIA

Dean

one way is to create a layer mask (click add layer mask in the layers palette) then copy the black and white layer data into the mask.

I am not able to obtain a new driver from nvidia.

According to their site: "For Quadro FX series GPUs, please refer to the website of the specific notebook workstation manufacturer for the latest ISV-certified drivers."

At Dell support for my M6300, the latest driver they have was posted June 2008.

Thanks again Garnet. As you can see above, the word processor software in question is Arbortext Epic Editor Version 4.1. The issue only seems to be with that program and nothing else.

Laurie - and yet the bug is in your word processing software. Installing a dot release of it shouldn't require any licensing changes.

That renders CS4 far less useable than CS3. I saw this problem on my inital trial installation, on 3 separate computers and assumed it would be fixed.

Sigh. Why should I buy?

Why!!:-(

You know, I purchased Lightroom when I upgraded to CS4, and have found, as a photographer, that Lightroom does almost everything I need a program to do, and does it simpler, more intuitively than the PS, and has the benefit of a database and slide show generator.

If all you need to do is adjust exposure, clean things up a bit, resize, convert to BW or Sepia, and stuff like that, Photoshop is not needed. I wish I'd stayed with PSCS3 and simply gotten lightroom.

we have asked for option to modify cursor lightness for over 4 versions or
to make it a color like red that can been seen on gray areas
Windows users are dissed once again by Adobe (blaming Microsoft OS) who say
it is not possible

I have been told Mac users get a cursor that changes color as it it used
over different areas
it is super annoying to try to use heal or clone on a gray background image
which applies to most film scans of B&W

I bought a scanner with ICE that was supposed to remove dust, only to find
it only works on COLOR images
ICE does not work to remove the dust from B&W negs so much spotting is
required
and the point to circle is really not a good workaround, we need to see the
brush size

I use the above mentioned adjustment layer method too
at least that feature has been improved to ignore the layers you don't want
included

If you have used the Marquee tool to crop, press Ctrl+Shift+I if you need to remove the other bit.

Here is are a couple of VERY odd anomalies I have come across.

PS CS4 v. 11.0 on Win XP Pro SP 3 loaded on Dell Optiplex 755...

When using the eraser tool, it will work if the mode is set to "block" but if mode is set to "brush" or "pencil" it will not work.

Also, clone stamp doesn't work at all. I have tried myriad mode settings, brush settings sample settings. After alt/clicking to obtain the sample, I move the tool over the area I wish to "replace" with the cloned selection. Before I click, I can see a small sample of the cloned area where the bush is positioned. However, once I click it goes away and nothing happens! It is recorded as a step in the history panel, but no changes are made to the image.

I must admit that I am stumped. Thanks in advance for anyone's insight.

Do you have a pressure sensitive tablet? (this sounds like we're receiving zero for the tablet pressure, so nothing happens)

I do, a Wacom Tablet. But I didn't experience this issue with CS2 (we skipped over CS3)? Is this a new "feature" of CS4?

NVidia is listening, and working on many of these problems. They have recently identified more multiple display performance issues and are working on them.
