All of the CS4 apps, as far as I can tell, run quite nicely on Windows
7. Its quite likely at this point that Windows 7 will be released before
CS5.

Thanks Bob for the heads up. I found this text about the release date of Win7:
Q. What is the expected timeline for the availability of Windows 7?
A. We are currently in the planning stages for Windows 7 and expect it will take approximately 3 years to develop. The specific release date will be determined once the company meets its quality bar for release.
Q. Has Windows 7 been released to manufacturing?
A. We're continuing to work with our partners on the development of Windows 7, and are not sharing any additional information at this time.
Q. Is the schedule for Windows 7 being moved up due to poor Windows Vista sales?
A. We're not sharing additional information on Windows 7 at this time. However, we're confident that many organizations are recognizing the value in Windows Vista. Of note, sales of Windows Vista licenses have now passed 100 million. In addition, Windows Vista is being adopted by businesses at a rate that is similar to past releases. In the business market there are early, mainstream and late adopters, with the majority of businesses falling into the category of mainstream. We're seeing positive indicators that we're already starting to move from the early adoption phase into the mainstream, and that more and more businesses are beginning their planning and deployment of Windows Vista.
You can read the full threaded version at:
<http://www.winvistaclub.com/i7.html>
Doesn't sound like Windows 7 will be out anytime soon. Thus I may decide to downgrade my older system once I have finished installing all of my programs to my new PC. Or perhaps get a dual-bootable system for my new one.

MS has learned not to promise anything. I'm running the beta here and
it's very polished. Read the non-MS reviews and you'll see everyone
predicting Win 7 anywhere from June to December of this year.
I'm so impressed with the beta that, barring something unforeseen, I
plan to do something I've never done before...upgrade immediately.

No, when I do this action I still end up (in the color picker) with the selected spot bottom left just above the "Only Web Colors" box - ie selecting black.
At no point am I making a selection that falls anywhere else in the color picker. I'm still doing something wrong but I can't see what.

130 :: XX through 150 :: XX errors are related to the install database and licensing sub-system. It thinks the install never finished and the licensing does not kick in. Uninstall, run the CS4 Clean Utility. When you re-install, make sure to correctly run with full administrative privileges. And by all means - make sure your system is on the latest system updates. That mention of the service packs for Win XP and Vista in the install instructions is not for fun...

Replace it with the latest version of the font. Quite possible you are using an outdated older version that contains some flaws which throw PS off track. in addition, check your document DPI settings and antialiasing mode in relation to the actual font size. You may simply be using a very small font size at an odd raster.

Asus 8800GT 1 GB Nvidia
In so many words: Evil graphics card. This specific model has been giving trouble with Adobe apps all across the board. Unless you haven't already, install the latest certified driver. This may help. It may also be a smart move to toy around with your NVidia settings and adjust a few sliders, e.g. reducing Quality in favor of Performance or turning off antialiasing entirely by creating a user-defined application profile...

Well, that's what Beta-testing means. I don't think there's any solution to this other than being a good tester and reporting this to MS and Eizo. Very likely they assigned a different device class or enumeration scheme, so this is a no-go, I'd think. If the software does not look up the correct registry keys, it will never find anything. I guess for the time being, you will have to live without calibration, if you really want to test W7 in your environment.

Thanks Mylenium. I can't work on an uncalibrated system so I sent the bug report off last week...I was just curious to see if other had a similar issue.
I'm back on Vista x64 as I don't have time to troubleshoot win7beta.

Chris,
if you're insisting on a monitor calibration for
your experimental (beta) system, then you can try
to use your instrument's software (for instance
for EyeOne Display or EyeOne Pro) without Eizo's
color navigator - if it should work under Win7.
In this case the monitor is adjusted manually and
interactively near to the target values (e.g. D65,
Gamma=2.2), and the instrument's software modifies
the LUTs on the graphics card (as usual).
I'm doing this all the time. The pretended higher
accuracy/resolution of the internal LUTs of the
Eizo monitors is hardly perceivable = I can't see
any difference.

Do you think the word "pretentious" in the thread title is responsible
for drawing so many pompous remarkers?

I recently got the new Photoshop CS4 and I was so pleased as it was better than Paint Shop Pro. However everytime I open a graphic (.JPG, .PNG etc) I get these wierd triangles across the graphic... Any ideas?
Here is a screencap of what I mean:

I did skim through all the other FAQ's etc but didn't find anything.

If no video driver update is available or an update doesn't help, try disabling OpenGL drawing if it is currently turned on (Edit>Preferences>Performance).
If you still have problems, please post again and state your video card make/model and which operating system type (Mac/Windows) and version you are using.
