Let us know how stable CS4 proves to be with the two dissimilar cards being used in conjunction with the AllowOldGPUS.plugin.

Don,

Exact same experience... read below.

<http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b6e56d/43>

I resolved to upgrading to 2-8800s rather than deal with the problems. It seems the Apple OS doesn't not like two different video cards. Things work better when they are identical. I'm still waiting from my second 8800 to arrive. But I'm anticipating much better behavior with 2 identical cards again.

So far I haven't had any problems with it set up that way I have it at the moment.
I really don't want to spend another $300. for another 8800 card just to get this to work.
Especially when you wouldn't be able to get the full speed out of the 2nd slot anyways...quite throttled down...so why put a $300. card in there.
I'll let you know if I start to have any issues with this set up....otherwise you can assume it's working for me.
Anyone have any info on all those Advanced Settings and what they do and if we need them to do it?

Is it now okay to do this? If not, what happens if you do?

The problem that you may run into if you select External Drives for Scratch would arise if you later disconnect those Drives and Photoshop posts a "Disk not Found" error message.

" I've worked with photoshop since 2.0. It always bothered me since they
changed it whenever that was,"

And you're still complaining about the change? Jeebers, I forget about old ways of doing things within 2 months of a change, mostly because I know I can't change them back. I move on, learn the new way, and internalize the process.

I guess some of us just adapt quicker than others.

But hanging on to a disappointment for about 10 years? Wow.

I know about one zillionth of one iota about scripting, but I have a hunch that a script could be written (or, more likely—has already been authored) that will, in effect, unlock any image opened, automatically.

My CS3 has been running fine on my G4 dual tower running 10.4.11.
However, I just decided I used my iBook G4 (also running 10.4.11),
enough to warrent installing CS3 on it. Since I installed it, every
time I try to launch the ap, it crashes. I've rebooted and repaired
permissions, but it still crashes.

I feel as though there ought to be a simple thing I haven't done, but
it's not coming to me. Any suggestions?

Correction, my tower is a dual G5.

I got the new Adjustment Brush tool working for sometime. But suddenly it stopped working! Crazy, I know. These are the steps.

1) I click on the adjustment brush
2) select 'exposure' (default)
3) I take the mouse pointer to the portrait and click.
It doesn't create a "starting point."
So whatever changes I do is affected immediately.
-- I cannot change the exposure by moving the "Amount" slider.
-- I cannot hover over the image to see the mask

Basically, it ends up being a corel draw 1.0 software!

It seems crazy because, I got this working just a few minutes ago. (adobe crashed, and ever since I'm not able to get this feature working)

Pl help

Trash the settings folder, you are referring to the adjustment brush in ACR of course?

From Kathy: "I still can not find out your issues here. You may try report this to adobe through this link.

Thank you, Kathy! This was the tip I needed. I thought that Adobe may, indeed, be monitoring this forum. Many manufacturers monitor and post in their own forums, e.g. Apple.

"Also one simple workaround for you, could be create a close action and run this action in Image Processor."

I really did try this. Trouble is, you run into unresolvable interactions with a Save As dialog. I.e. the Close Action seems to interfere with the saving of the converted JPEG. At least I couldn't get it to work -- but it should not be necessary.

There are workarounds, such as selecting multiple items in Bridge, opening them all into ACR, and then selecting them all and clicking Save File. Doesn't open any windows at all! But the bug still needs to be reported.

From Ramon: "Before your frustration causes you to become overly argumentative, you may want to consider that your interlocutor may actually know a bit more than you seem to think she does. Kathy may even be part of the Adobe team, for all you know."

You are reading way too much into what I said. Argumentative? I meant what I said literally. The behavior of the Image Processor script should not have any dependencies, and the documentation (such as it is) indicates none whatever. Further, the script, when run identically in CS3, runs perfectly.
