The name is John Nack, but I like your version better. Jack Nack sounds
so Hollywood!
the name was john kennedy too! :) <embarrassed shrug>
You must be using pirate software because the only upgrade path to CS3
was Photoshop & and later.
no. like i said, it sounds like he repaid for a full version (550). by calling it an upgrade he's confused you, like i said he would. you're confused. stop being confused buko! :)
erm, what john said.

David, if you are still learning PS, I suggest that you click on Help, Photoshop Help (or press f1) which will take you to the Adobe web site. At the top of the right column you can go to the manual where you will find lots of information about how to do things in Photoshop. There is also a lot of tutorials on the web site. Keep you busy for a few months.
Geoff.

OK, I'll try the Help option (and the tutorials). I purchased a couple of 'beginner' books but I'm realizing that they have their limitations.
(dave m - I'm at work so I don't have all the answers posed above. I'll know more this evening.)

I had a problem wwith photomerge stopping or crashing.
I removed the preferences file and let photoshop recreate a new one and this solved the problem.
FROM ADOBE:
Re-create the Photoshop preferences file.
Re-create the Photoshop preferences file to eliminate problems that a damaged preferences file might cause.
Note: When you use this solution, Photoshop will create a new preferences file and you will lose custom settings associated with your current preferences file. However, the file you rename in step 2 is your original preferences file. If you determine that the preferences file is not causing the problem, then you can restore your custom settings by following the instructions below.
To re-create the Photoshop preferences file:
1. Quit Photoshop.
2. Rename the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp file (for example, to Adobe Photoshop CS4 Prefs.psp.old) in the Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings folder.
3. Start Photoshop. Photoshop creates a new preferences file.
If the problem continues, the preferences file isn't the cause. To restore custom settings, delete the new preferences file and restore the original name of the previous preferences file.

How are you getting the image into 3dsmax? It looks like your selection didn't remove the white at the edges of the swimsuit. With regards to antialising, when you make a selection to remove the white, turn off anti-aliasing in your selection tool of choice. This will give a hard edge, then you just have to make sure that your selection is at least a pixel away from all of the white areas. Try the Select-Expand/Contract functions or Refine Edge.
It would help to know what version of photoshop you are using, what format you are saving and what you are trying to do with the image.

No, however, I do have two drives the first is the "C" drive, the second is partitionned into 3- E,F,J. Photoshop was installed on the "F" drive and My Pictures are found on the "J" drive. When I click on "OPEN" it does open the "My Picture" window and that's when it freezes.

reset the prefs. my guess is the drive letter changed or something that used to be there is on your recent file list and no longer exists on the drive/share... resetting hte preferences will clear it.

Is it possible to import a series of digital still images shot to record
a stop-motion animation into the Photoshop Extended animation film/video
timeline and set the duration of each still image to 2 frames so that
the timeline can then be rendered into a single movie clip?
Thanks for any advice.

John,
Shortly before CS3 was released, Adobe acquired Grain Surgery from Visual Infinity.
Adobe only sort-of acknowledged that during the Red Pill (CS3) beta testing period. I'm on a Mac, and all four Grain Surgery plug-ins immediately and violently crashed the first build(s?) of CS3. Adobe chose to fix CS3 rather than address the Grain Surgery incompatibility.
Fortunately for me, Grain Surgery works just fine hosted by CS4 on my machine, but it will not work on any of the Mac-Intel boxes. Grain Surgery is essential for me, so I have resigned myself of keeping this machine, CS4 and Grain Surgery for the foreseeable time.
Not much we can do about Adobe's abandoning of Grain Surgery. What a shame!
