Do you have the logo in vector form?

(If not, that's an entirely separate discussion).

Ooooo...GIF is about the worst format to use.

Can you get your hands on a vector version?

If not, can you manage to rebuild the logo as a vector-based object?

Post the biggest version of it you have. You can use <http://www.pixentral.com> to host it for display here. Use the HTML code at the bottom of the picture after your upload displays, and ignore the "Forum" code.

Wow, I am sorry. It was the very first post in the forum as of two two
days ago. It was stickey for about a week or so. Guess it is gone. Sorry
again,

no problem.

. There is a threat in the pre-rerelease area for Beta 1 that has the
specifics.

what about the info? can you post it or are you NDA'd?

EW,

Sorry, I should have included references. I posted quite a few timing tests on the general release, Beta and Beta 2 over the past few months. I am focusing on an OGL timing protocol at the mement.

If I get the time, i'll find you the links, but they were like two months ago.

If it helps, there is an example at
http://pshero.com/archives/cs3-style-icons (CS3 though) that I tried to
follow and have not been able to perform step 3.

I should have been using the selection (marquee) tool instead of the
shape tool to complete the tutorials. Duh.

Hey, I did that, but nothing would happen. Whats worse, is that I lost those pref files. Now the Adobe Photoshop CS3 settings Folder is empty! I have tried reinstalling the whole suite, and the error is still there. What should I do?

what do you mean you "lost the files"? anyway they should be recreated on first (successful) use.

i'd try to disconnect from the internet, disable firewall and anti-virus and try again. also might want to give that link in the other thread a try again. it does sound like something's trying to kick in and it's being stopped (the adobe licensing service most likely).

When I said I "lost the files", I meant that nothing can be found in the adobe ps cs3 settigns folder. I reinstalled the suite again, and PS won't start.. as you said it seems something is not letting it start completely. I don't think its the licensing service since the other Adobe apps work fine.. i think it has to do solely with photoshop.

FWIW, I use the Zune theme on XP without any issues. It's a step above the XP standard. I finally got tired of classic after 6-8 years.

Most likely cause is inadvertently using Absolute Colorimetric rendering intent for your profile conversion. Make sure it's either Relative or Perceptual.

One possibility is that you are double profiling. You should have either "printer manages colors" with settings in the printer properties, or "photoshop manages color" with no color adjustment in the printer settings.

What printer do you have?

Hi Ed, I never used the pen tool as a selection tool. I just tried it and it does not select but just blacks out the image. I want to perform selections so I can either apply a layer mask to that selection or copy that selection.

Dave, this is a right handed, wireless, Logitech mouse. It is over 3 years old and I'm begining to suspect that maybe it is defective.

Just to recap: I use the Poly Lasso a lot for selections, sometimes the magnetic lasso and sometimes the magic wand when the situation allows it. But for selecting part of an image I find the Poly Lasso tool the best for most purposes. Recently now it wants to complete the joining of the selection before I am finished. Joining the two ends of the lasso can be done by one of two methods: either by double cliking and the two ends will be joined no matter where they are or how far apart they are or by bringing the cursor and lasso to the starting pointing and when in close proximity they join by one click. It would be great to be able to turn off the double click method of joining and only have the ends join by the close proximity method. That would solve my problem regardless of what is causing it in the first place. Thanks for all your suggestions. John

Regardless of whether you go on using stone age tools or not, be aware that the Pen tool makes paths, shape layers or filled pixels according to the option selected in the Options Bar. Paths are accurate and can be converted to selections with a single click.

If you intend to progress with Photoshop it's a good idea to learn how to use the pen tool. It takes time, practice and patience, but it pays off in the end.

John, I guess I should learn more about it. Thanks for the advice.
I'll start with PS help and also search for various tutorials in other forums. Unless you or someone else can recommend a good tutorial. Thanks

have you tried turning down the video acceleration on your card just to eliminate a vid driver problem?

Yes. I have written a tool which parses most of the documented structures of a PSD file and can recover image layers. Contact me if you need more info.

So I have had Photoshop CS3 for a while and then one day when I tried to access it again it decided to crash upon loading it. It has worked before and I have tried removing the preferences file but nothing seems to help. I have even looked all over the web for something to fix it but I can't seem to find anything. And yes I have even tried re-installing.

So here is a couple Screen shots to show my point of view.

I really hope you guys can help. It would be so much appreciated!

Thanks!

Have you added any plugins? If so, remove them then try launching CS3. If it loads, CS3 has an issue with a plugin.

CC,

I like that, "armchair programming". Maybe we could get together, drink a few cold ones and discuss our graduate and post-doc work in graphics theory, actually in my case, occlision theory...

tile/block models are great for all reasons listed. However, mapping 2D to 3D or the other way around causes problems -- always has/always will. Not really PC, but it is like saying you are a bit pregnant.

How deep will PS's foray be into the land of 3D? Where will PS end and AE begin?

Obviously, PS's start has not been stellar. Two betas later and not much closer to an OGL use that actually works properly -- not to mention $10B in shareholder value. Can't wait for the next earnings conf call. Should be interesting to see how fast some folks can tap dance. I expecially like the non-GAAT numbers... Not seen that one in a while.

I was on a team trying to do exactly the same thing in the late 80s. We had a 2D world and suddenly got stereoscoptic data... We had to go to a 3D model once our 3D burden got to be too great.

Hello,

I just purchased a new system (Win XP Pro downgrade, SP3, Intel i7 processor) and PS is really acting odd. I've already uninstalled and reinstalled, and the behavior remains.

Whenever I open PS, all my menus are grayed out, including the File menu that allows me to open a file. In order to open a file, I must minimize PS, then re-maximize it. At that point, the menus become active.

Similar to this issue is that anytime I wish to apply a layer effect, I must ALT-TAB to another program, then switch back in order to see its effect. The same goes with the Navigator window in PS: If I zoom in or out on the image, the Navigator window does not show any change. In other words, the red box that should move across the thumbnail in the Navigator window does not move, even though the image itself on the desktop will change size as I zoom in and out. And, related to this, the Navigator window is often grayed out, as is any additional Layer I may create above the background Layer.

Now, the program ran well on my other computer, which was also XP Pro, though not a downgrade and it was running on a different processor. Could this be a processor issue? As mentioned, I've already tried an uninstall/reinstall. Has anyone else seen this before or does anyone have any ideas what I could try?

Thanks for your help!

-Greg
