Have you ever used the MAGIC WAND Tool or the QUICK SELECTION Tool to select just the white background? I am still using CS3... when you first open your image, double click on it's "background" layer in the Layer Palette to bring the image up on to a new/separate Layer - then once you select the white background, just hit the Delete Key and it should be gone. If you need more help, feel free to ping me off list.

I haven't found where you can turn the background invisible yet... I
was looking at selecting the background color, but clear and
transparant aren't choices... I also looked at opacity, thinking
maybe I could make the selected area invisible, but that wasn't an
option either. I know it is an easy method, but I just don't remember
how.
