Nigel: Here is a method that may work for you.

(1) Since you have PSCS4, you are able to convert your image to a
smart object.

(2) Create a layer mask that corresponds to the physical size you
would want the known object to print at. E.g., your known object
(the coin) is 20.3mm wide, so you create a rectangular marquee
that is 20.3mm wide:

(a) Create an arbitrary sized rectangular marquee, then use
Select->Transform Selection and enter the desired height and
width into the object bar (e.g., 20.3mm 20.3mm) and
commit. It doesn't matter where in the image you make this;
all that matters is that you have a 20.3x20.3mm marquee.

(b) Turn this marquee into a mask by clicking on the masks panel
and then the icon second from the right. Unlock the mask
from the smart object by clicking on the chain icon.

(3) Use this layer mask to calibrate the image against the known
object:

(a) Click on the smart object icon in the layer, then use
Edit->Transform (with the aspect ratio locked) to move the
known object (coin) into the mask and scale it so it just
barely fits into its width.

(b) Your smart object is now scaled properly in Photoshop. You
should now delete (or disable) the layer mask, which is no
longer needed.

(4) Use the Move tool, if necessary, and the Rectangular Marquee tool
to select the area of the image to be printed.

(5) In the Print dialog, set scale to 100%. Don't use borderless
printing, which typically reduces the printing scale slightly.

Can you clarify this for me please - what does the icon say?

Read my post #11. I've given you the method that will easily give you exactly what you want in 2 simple steps. 3 if you have to turn a background image into a layer.

I'm using Photoshop CS4 64bit on Vista Ultimate 64bit.
Spec are:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Mobo: MSI P7N SLI Platinum
RAM: 4GB Kit Corsair XMS2
GPU: ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2

Since i've got PS CS4 64bit it's been working perfectly, quick and smooth.
A few days ago i've played with the GPU OC settings, and since CS4 is working really slowly.
I've tried to disable OpenGL, but it stays slow.

I can't work like this, i need help :(

You should only be registering the software once

Could be, but how do you tell the second setup that it's already done.

Both my PS CS4 installations demanded to be registered (no "I've registered already" option).

I selected the Sanvito pro font. After I had installed it on the second machine, PS kept on nagging me to register. After I finally did, I got the gift choice again.

This time I chose the free one month Lynda.com offer, and cheerfully learned various techniques.

If this is illegal I'll visit a shrink to have the Lynda.com experience wiped.

Hi guys.

I really need some help here.

I have a canvas which is 1680x1200 and i'm designing a website. I've added some guides around the canvas but here comes my problem. Everything i create which i want to snap to those guides - snaps ½-1px outside og inside the guide. I have nothing else on the canvas that they can snap too.

I've looked around for ages for a solution without any luck so i hope someone in here can guide me through this problem as it has had me gone through changes on the webdesign for a month now.

Why don't you use Snap to > Document Bounds instead of Snap to Guides?

Mads: Have you looked at the snap really close up? I am sure that you will find that it 'looks' like that until you get really close up.

Bridge is not tied to any restrictions in terms of activation or requiring specific components to be in place, hence it almost always works. Do you correctly run the install with administrative privileges?

My problem is that AVG8 put the "false positive" folder mentioned above into the virus vault, together with this feature from a back up. I deleted them before finding out they were false. Now, although CS4 and Bridge work, they do not appear as programmes in (XP) Control Panel/ Add/Remove programmes, although the folder appears still to be in Programme Files/ Common Files /Adobe/ Installers. Short of a re-install, is there a way to correct this? Also I cannot follow Adobe's instructions on uninstall if they do not show in the Add/Remove Programmes. I could use the Windows Install Utility I suppose. Is there a simple answer?(Restore point up would not work for the reason above - maybe a registry issue?)

The file that was detected and you deleted is setup.exe.

Go to your original install media or download-extract location and just copy that setup.exe into the

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Installers\faf656ef605427ee2f42989c3ad31b8\setup.exe

that you deleted.

On my system, I am running the trial while waiting for the box to come, so that setup.exe is in:

C:\Users\Steve\Downloads\Adobe CS4\Photoshop\Adobe CS4

because I downloaded the .7z file containing the trial into my Downloads folder and ran its corresponding EXE from there.

These two setup.exe files are identical, at least in the trial version.

For these all you need to do is use the built in script:
File - Automate - Crop and Straighten Photos
Works fine on the example you gave.

Thanks,

What do the models contain? Are they properly converted to polygons before saving? Do you use any extended options when saving to the 3DS format to retain specific info from MAX? Quite possible that you are using a non-standard shader somewhere or have added a comment to an item that will end up as an "opaque" chunk in the exported file and crashes PS.

Hi!

I have the same problem on Windows XP 32bits, my scanner doesn't have any WIA driver (it seems that it's too old).

Where could we find TWAIN plugin for PC? I only found it for Mac.

I did two complete uninstall and reinstall. IRFAN, WordPerfect 3x, ACDSee Pro 2.5 all see and input from the scanner.

PSCS4 and PSCS3 which is still installed do not!

Should I uninstall CS4 and reinstall it?
