I did two complete uninstall and reinstall. IRFAN, WordPerfect 3x, ACDSee Pro 2.5 all see and input from the scanner.

PSCS4 and PSCS3 which is still installed do not!

Should I uninstall CS4 and reinstall it?

Use the scanner software to scan and save, then open the file in Photoshop.

Why tie up Photoshop when the actual scan is done with the same software.

Reinstall CS4, making sure the scanner is on and ready when you boot.

Hi guys,

Having the age old colour mismatch from two printers problem. Is there a way in photoshop CS2 (or anything else) that I can print a colour swatch that also gives the individual RGB values?

My theory is that if I print the same swatch to the two different printers, I can manually match the colours by eye and adjust RGB values to suit. Make sense?

Thanks in advance

Ben

Thanks for your reply Peter - I made a file like you suggested and passed it on to the typesetter but they said it gave them an error and no file was produced.

Any more ideas, anybody? Currently I am keeping the job moving by taking the areas to be coloured blue and making a bitmap image of them and then dropping it into ID, on top of the background which has been converted to greyscale. I can then colour the top layer my spot blue and export it out as an EPS and that seems to work in 3B2. It's not perfect as the edge of the blue areas are not clearly defined in the original - it would be better with as a tone where the edges could be feathered.

Our RIP can't handle info from DCS EPS files and break it apart in out normal work flow. The work around for us is sending Separations from from the ID control. For us this works. But we don't make PDFs first.

We're using IDCS3. The DCS EPS files come through fine in ID and Quark it's just not working for the typesetter.

Dunno if you will get it to work. As Chris said, Photoshop wrote generic links, and Wacom made their device work with them. (Not Adobe working to the Wacom standard). If N-Trig is not interested in doing the same, then you are out of luck.

Hi,

I just purchased CS4 Extended. I originally got it to work on all my photos of vacations, National Parks etc. that I have saved over the years. I am completly new to photoshop so if there are any good tutorials of your favourite photo enhancements, please send them to me. I would like to do some black and white images with some coloured elements; any help with this would be much appreciated.

However, I am interested in using CS4 for my work. I am a scientist and I generate a lot of SDS-PAGE gels. These are acrylamide gels stained with comassie blue. Basically the proteins in a sample are separated into various bands of different sizes. The bands are stained blue, the more protein the bluer the band. I will send an example if anyone is interested. I was wondering if I could use photoshop to quantify the bands so I can say 'this band contains x grams of protein' as the samples are run with known standards.

Thank you in advance,

Owen

There are millions of Photoshop tutorials to be found on the web and in books, some are good some are not so good. A good place to start is the extra DVD that comes with CS4, then have a look on the Adobe site, especially tv.adobe.com where you will find video tutorials. You will also learn a lot by reading this forum.

I can't help with your second question, do a search on Google for "SDS-PAGE gels photoshop".

As I understand it because of design spat Windows will not read PSD files.

I continue to have the problem... and I have upgraded my video to a 9800GT 512mb. I also use a Wacom Intuos 3. I notice that when the mouse stops (the Wacom mouse) the pen will still operate. But, since upgrading to my new card... the cursor will only dispay up to 100 pixels... over that and it begins to disappear...

WILL SOME ONE AT ADOBE PLEASE GIVE THIS SOME ATTENTION?

No. You're bashing your head against a brick wall. Adobe will do
what they always do: stick to strict standards, regardless of whether
these standards have any relevance to the real world. OpenGL is
just one example out of dozens.

You say, quote - "Since upgrading to my new card" - it would seem to be an nVidia problem rather than Adobe's! Have you installed the latest driver - 181.22 dated 22jan09?

Phil,

Actually the latest driver is 181.22 dd 22nd Jan 2009. It would appear that nVidia are pulling out all the stops to solve these problems, and that Adobe are not the guilty party in this particular problem.

every time I try to load Photshop 7, it goes through all the preliminaries and then the screen goes blank. thinking it was a program fault, I have reinstalled but all to no avail. What other fault could it be? I know it's getting on, as is the desktop, but all has been well until now.
any suggestions please

When I clicked "/camera raw", I see this:

Adobephotoshp camera raw version. 5.2.0.65.

Is that the real camera raw plugin? I am asking this because I donot recall install camera raw plugin during the installation of CS4.

I Feel everyones pain!!!!

After using Photoshop CS4 since it's release with virtually no issues and really enjoying the new features I started Photoshop this morning and experienced all of the issues in this thread!
Extremely slow and lagging brushes.
Jittery Zoom tool operation.
Text - very slow! I could type a 5 letter word and sit back in my chair and wait for it to catch up!
etc. etc.

If this would have been like this when I installed I would have immediately reverted back to CS3, completely unacceptable!

Turns out Microsoft update installed a new set of NVIDIA drivers!

I went to the NVIDIA site and downloaded the latest drivers, installed them and now everything is good again.
