Thanks all.

Wolf. I have only recently installed this graphics card. I shall see if
there is a new driver available and let you know if this fixes it.

Buko. Yes, of course ;-) Or one variety or another, depending on the needs.

John. Where, please? I logged into this forum late last night after a
long day of teaching. I did look for posts about this topic before posting
but obviously missed something here!

Thanks for the reactions.

I have just installed the new driver. It helped. Thank you very much. I suppose you can tell I don't know much about graphics cards since I took the seller's advice for granted: "Do I have to install something? There's this CD in the box..." "No, you don't have to install anything." Go figure. All happy now :-) On to exploring the new options.

Make sure, in Control Panel > Default Programs > Set Associations, that each file format is correctly associated with the correct .exe program file.

It's really irritating me that I have to open the 32-bit version first
just to make sure the files open in the correct version of the program.

That's just not right!

hi, i'm finding cs4 very buggy, i've read previous articles and updated drivers etc but there's still alot of things that are driving us bonkers!

previously commented on the marquee bug, where that jumps around the screen and have just noticed another one.. when the move tool is selected and you hold ctrl then click on a shape/image then normally it will select that layer/group but in cs4 it's making my selection jump off the page everytime on the click.

Has anyone else had this? is it a bug?

Cheers

Hi,

Just to let people know that once it was approved, the actual upgrade was and is really painless. Adobe Customer support just give you a special product key for your existing product and the upgrade is accepted...

So I'm sure if Adobe get the customer support confusion out of the way for whether the Extended to Standard upgrade is allowed it will be an easy process in the future

Well 'Extract' is gone, others are not installed by default and can be found in the 'Goodies' folder on the DVD.

I'm pretty sure this is a false positive, and sorry for posting about it here, I don't know where else do go. The setup of the support forums is confusing me.

Anyway, AVG Free detected a "Trojan horse Crypt.CFR" in Common Files/Adobe/Installer/and a bunch of numbers and letters/Setup.exe . From what I've read, there is no such thing as a "Trojan horse Crypt.CFR" and that this is probaby a false positive, but just to be on the safe side, I wonder if anyone else has experienced this and knows what to do.

I looked at my scan results for last night and see the same thing. It was not
there the night before, and I didn't download anything from Adobe yesterday.
Hopefully it is just a false positive.

That's exactly waht happened to me. The files have been on my computer for months and just last night it said it was a trojan. Most likely, a false positive, but we can never be too careful.

It seems the problem is being reported on other sites and happens to be today as well. Apparently it is with universal Adobe products, mine is CS4 Extended.

Ditto here for Trend Micro, also Spybot search & Destroy.

I find it pertinent that all the reports, so far as I've seen, are from AVG. My guess would be that AVG updated itself last night and is now registering a false positive on Adobe.

There's a trojan circulating with pirated versions of Mac Photoshop CS4. This was just reported this week. Perhaps the Windows virus definitions were also updated to be a bit more suspicious of anything associated with Photoshop.

Exactly Jim, that's why I hope there's someone who can make a copy of his disc, and as I said, I'm willin' to pay for it. And indeed Buko, I've just bought a version of Acronis "True Image" for making backups, cause it won't happend again!

...meanwhile, could someone help me with a "clean" install disc?

I am converting tiff files to jpeg using the Automate then Batch Actions. I select my source folder and Destination folder. The program converts and send the jpegs to the Destination folder but it is also sending a copy of every jpeg to my DESKTOP. Nothing in my Destination folder shows the desktop as a destination. I set up a destination file on my e drive and it still sends the photos to the desktop.

any suggestions I am using CS2 Photoshop.

Thanks
Randy

At home, I have used Photoshop CS and CS2. At work, I use Photoshop CS4. Even though the later version of Photoshop have somewhat nifty features and a more uniform interface and integration, I still find myself happy and content with CS2 mainly for the introduction of the multi-selectable layer support without all the "extraness". What are your thoughts on past experiences in comparison with the later versions of Photoshop?

I got the McBeth i1 Display 2 last night and ran both the Quick Cal and the Advanced. It indicates that I have plenty of life yet in this Mitsubishi crt and did a beautiful job in profiling, such that the subtle colors read more accurate. There is s "creaminess", almost as if i picked up dot pitch.

I think their Help and information can be better done, however. A novice is likely to have problems figuring out the details.

And Russ, the old Colorvision puck sticks better than the i1. It fell off the screen onto the keyboard!

The Quick cal and Advanced matched perfectly, so unless you have individual RGB adjustments, you don't need to use the Advanced. Curiously, the advanced showed the three guns well off, even though using the balance utility in the Mitsu shows pretty good balance. Once I got those correct, the brightness came up past 90.
