I am the least indicated to answer these questions...but since
I asked the question and should provide some sort of answer

Plu ins are commonly used by photographers as extra tools for PS and PS Elements

You download them to a folder called Plug Ins in Program Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS4/

and the appear in the Filter pull down menu

Each Plug In gives you a different extra function

Some of them are for sharpening, others for noise reduction,
some will give you textures for your pictures,
others tinting and toning etc

I am sure other members will tell you of others

I believe there are 100's of them and I am just trying to tempt myself
to start using them..."Do you NEED them, or do you WANT them???" -- that is the question! :-)
