Only if the person who created the file chose to include the History in metadata. Highly unlikely in the case of a re-sampled file they may want to pass off as the original.

A trained eye can very often tell just by looking at the image.

Thanks

No. You just need to make the dimensions of the image larger than the trim-size (by 1/8" for most applications) on all sides.

> a plug-in for FireFox

what the FireFox Web browser color-management option (and Windows Vista) do (that Mac OS and ColorSync don't) is FF/Vista *Assume* un-tagged and un-managed color is sRGB ———— versus the Mac/ColorSync engineering that *Assumes* un-tagged and un-managed color is the default MonitorRGB

that's important to know — how your OS and Applications handle untagged and unmanaged color — more so if the newer high-gamut monitors are on your list and you use a Mac

You can make Firefox color-managed if you type:
about:config
in the URL bar; and go down to:
gfx.color_management.enabled

and change false to true.

[Ramón taught me that trick!]

Can you retain layer names on export somehow?

My PSD file has many layers; need each to be a separate JPG named as its layer.

thanks!

Not quite, 3D Interactive Acceleration is only for working if 3D. If you don't work with 3d you don't need it so there won't be any difference to you

As for drivers, just because Apple provides only the latest version doesn't mean that you can't find older versions using google

Only Apple has drivers for the Mac. Where else are you going to find them, Google or not? If you find it, how do you install them without solid hacking experence?

That subjective definition does not make the card fully supported. :/

Yes, that is right. I do not work with 3D, so it does not matter to me. That is why I said it works fine for me, even though it is not listed or supported.

No, but it also doesn't make it unsupported :p
I don't know how the drivers work for the mac but there are tons of people out there who have whats called a Hackintosh, a normal PC with components bought from retail stores with OSX installed on it and from what i've understood it's easy to do. Also, look <http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx>, video card drivers for mac os x. If ati has drivers on their page i guess there are places to also find nvidia drivers(couldn't find them on nvidia's site)

That is because there are NO Mac video drivers available — except for those built-in as part of Mac OSX.

still would have a drive to read 'em.

Another good reason to keep old gear around just in case you run across some old media.

Zeno,

Well, I'll bet that one good, even badly placed fire could ruin photos
mighty fast.

Of course. And it can wipe out digital media almost as quickly. What I'm more concerned about is that even best archiving practices for digital media are suspect. You can easily see damage to photographs, hopefully in time to stop or correct it. You can rarely directly observe damaged digital media, and may not know until there is no way to replace or restore it.

I don't know about you guys but standard procedure for backing up valuable data is to save it in different locations to prevent fires and stuff like that from ruining it. Usually about 3 copies are made, one stored in the office, one at another physical location and a third on an offsite server

I got rid of the one in Bridge and there was another under Application Support-Adobe-Camera Raw 4. Is this something I need to get rid of? It has a folder titled AMT in it. When I tried to open a .Nef file it said that photoshop did not recognize it. I also went under Photoshop-About Plugins, and selected camera raw and the pop up said Could not support camera raw because there was not enough RAM.

As far as I know this behavior is not an Adobe thing. If you have multiple versions of an app, the system default is to launch the most current one when you click on a file, and assuming that the app is not running.

If you launch the older version first (via the Dock, alias or by clicking on the application icon, it should launch). Then when you click on the file you wish to work on, it will open in that version. Alternately, you should be able to launch the older version and the file in one step by touching the file to the older application version's icon. All subsequent files you wish to open after that should open normally in the older application version.

Let's say I have a folder with 100 images in it. These are actually frames from a movie. I also have another folder with another 100 different images in it. I can set up an action to open each of the first set of images sequentially and to place the first image from the second set (along with some subsequent adjustments etc). However, lets say I wanted the action to involve the first image in each set followed by the second image in each set, then the two third and so on? Can this be done?

Cheers

Andrew

Hello -

I've upgraded to CS4 and Leopard (10.5.6) within the last month or so (computer is a dual G5). Recently (sometime in the last week) I've started having a problem where my brush edges disappear as soon as I start painting: I click to paint, and the cursor gets replaced with a standard black arrow for the duration of the stroke. When I let up on the mouse button, the arrow is still visible, but as soon as I move the mouse, the normal brush borders come back. My preferences are set correctly to display brush size and this has nothing to do with the caps lock (though I did try other preferences to see if it helped).

The actual painting functions normally, it's just impossible to do any precision work when you can't tell where the stroke is going. This is true of the regular paint brush tool as well as the clone stamp, the healing brush, the blur tool, the eraser, and presumably everything else as well. Hard-edged brushes and well as soft ones, round as well as irregular shapes. I never imported any brushes that might be corrupted - I didn't even add to the brush palette from the included supplemental brush libraries.

Trashing preferences didn't help. I reached the point where I uninstalled the whole application and reinstalled from scratch - no difference, even before I changed any preferences or options.

This is driving me nuts. I know I'm not going crazy, because I've got two Macs with CS4 less than 10 feet away from me (one with identical hardware to my own), and the brushes on them show up as perfectly normal. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,

--Bonnie
