I contacted Adobe chat. I chatted with two customer service representatives and both have informed me that my serial number is a legal/legit and that it not registered to anyone. On both occations, neither mentioned anything about it needing to be sold with a computer. Both times I asked whether I can use the serial number with the upgrade CD of CS4 and they told me that I could and I need not worry.
Also, my OEM CD came with manuals.

That was a very old version of Premier Pro...There may well have been
OEM versions of that back then.

But there's none of that for the CS4 apps though I've seen Acrobat
Standard distributed with document scanners.

My understanding is that during the change from Premiere 6x to Premiere Pro 1 Adobe sold a bundled version (to Sony for Vaio?) that was called either Premiere Standard or Premiere 7 (I have seen both names used when people ask questions)

Every now and then someone drops into the Premiere 6x or "latest" Premiere CS forums... and they are directed to the Premiere Pro 1x forum for "close enough" answers

As far as I know, there were never any updates for that bundled version... I don't know if Adobe ever offered a discount to update to any later version

PS - I started with Premiere with version 6, which was bundled with a Pinnacle Dv500 analog to digital card... I later used that to upgrade to PPro 2 (don't remember the discounted price, but it was a good sized savings over regular retail)

PS - I started with Premiere with version 6,

which would be around ps version 5.5... about the last time i think ps was OEM'd... mighta been some 6 as well but that's the time frame.

Obviously there is much confusion and lots of "opinions" about this and I'll never understand why companies like Adobe cause this confusion in the first place, then don't apparently do something to clear it all up.

They can certainly read this and many other threads and respond if they wanted to. Either they have licensed legal OEM copies of CS3 in the past or they haven't. I suppose only they know for sure!

And then they wonder why people create crack versions of their software, even just one day after they release a new version.

Very frustrating for those that either can't afford or can't justify the full price for the latest version but would be willing to buy a legal copy of an older version for a reduced price. That seems like a legitimate and vibrant market segment to me.

Are you listening Adobe? Do you care?

they haven't. they've stated that here. just passing it on.

because some people will pay for it... a lot less than adobe sells it for.

no. they're not, and they don't. ;)

You know..I just did a test.

I made a small Photoshop file..brought it into InDesign..

Then I made the same file into a Photoshop PDF...I immediately saw how clear the text was on the .pdf brought into InDesign.

Bob - this is great...why didn't I know about this?

Prints clear too!! :)

What if you flatten the Photoshop .pdf before bringing into InDesign..does it matter?

I am getting transparency warnings & I hate those..

If I read this correctly, are you trying to save as jpeg from a 16 bit psd? That won't work since jpeg doesn't support 16 bits. Convert first.

Or are both greyed out in the psd before trying to save?

I've tried creating info in all types of fields - descriptions, IPTC data and nothing.

How do I get captions for each photo underneath when clicking through the gallery or in a slideshow?

Thanks!!

Have you ticked the "Show File Names" box in the Appearance tab? Also, you need to click on "Refresh Preview" or "Preview in Browser" to see any changes.

Yeah, and I don't see a 'show file names' box on the templates I've looked at.

What I did was go into the group.xml file and I could find the TITLE tags and changed those to what I wanted for my caption.

Still seems somethings not right, since I had to manually add them.

I think I was getting confused with Lightroom, It's easier to add captions in that.
Let us know how you get on!

cs3 had this option when creating a photomerge that made it so much easier to combine several photos when cs3 got lost in trying to merge.

I looked and looked in cs4 for the interactive command, so much simpler than grabbing the eraser and opacity, but I could not find the interactive addition for photomerge. Has it been moved or what ? IIRC in cs3 it was interactive from bridge..

Thanks. Hays

Are you talking about Kodak Photo CD files? If so, you need the Photo CD.8BI plug in. Look on your Photoshop CD to see if its in the goodies or copy it from an old version of PS. I had the same problem
with CS4 and PhotoCD files but after putting the plug in in the Plugins/File Formats folder I was able to open the files. They can't be opened in Bridge though.

After I posted this I figured out the problem, and it is just as Josh suggests. Apparently, the magic wand and eye dropper are directly linked to the sample size of the eye dropper. Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Hi

I have the ASUS EN8600 GT 512mb Silent, My OpenGl would just not work even though it was enabled, I tried the registry keys to allow old cards but it didn't work.

I used Driver Sweeper, booted into VGA, cleared up all my video related drivers.

Wen't to ASUS's web page and downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers supplied by, Asus, Don't know if this made the differance but the drivers I had before was from Nvidia directly.

So far so good.
