AN,
Can you quantify "painfully slow". Can you run the PS benchmark and provide results? It may help is seeing what is going on.

I've ran some benchmarks, i've got better times then most. It's more of a rendering thing.
So to better describe my problem, i present, a video of how slow PS is:

Rob,
As the problem exists with the same files when copied to my laptop on it's installation of CS3 - Installed 1 week ago - I doubt an reinstallation will work. Especially as both installation were installed a) at different times and b) using different methods (One using the Adobe download, the other using the official media)
From the reasearch I've done into this I'm pretty sure that the problem is due to PS CS3 not handling a bit of metadata correctly (Because PS CS3 can't open the file info dialog box) - but what I haven't found out is which bit of metadata.
Ian.

Ian,
If this meta data problem corrupts image files, I'd like to see such a file.
can you narrow this down to images from one particular camera? Does it happen with images from other sources? If I would give you a file with meta data would it happen?
Rob

Hi David
The G45 driver for CS4 OpenGL functionality is a software issue.
You can purchase a Sony with G45, and when the new driver comes out for the G45, you just download it from intel, install it, and the OpenGL will work in CS4.

You are probably trying to say as 16bit.
Go to 'Image' - 'Mode' and select the 8bit option.
The gif save as option should be there now.

My success rate in batch processing is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes it works just as expected but other times I have no results at all. When it doesn't work I get a message saying "file already exists do you want to replace the file?".
I begin the process by opening a file (I'm still using CS2) and then creating an action with a "save for web" command. I then go to Automate/Batch Process and set the action to play, then choose the source folder and the destination folder. I select the "Override Action "Save As" Commands", set up a file name + a 2 digit serial number + extension and start with #1. My error messages are logged to a file. I click OK and cross my fingers.
My primary usage of batch processing is for resizing images for a web photo gallery. Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a better method to prepare numerous images?
Thanks,
Eric

I have a freshly installed version of CS4 v11 with no plugins and all settings at the defaults. If I go to Help > About Photoshop (and other menu selections) it causes a gray line to suddenly appear through the menu bar. If I then move my cursor over the minimize/maximize/close icons in the upper right, artifacts appear. This is what it looks like:
<http://i44.tinypic.com/2h2k181.gif>
I don't have Enable Open GL Drawing enabled, I have an ATI HD 3870 X2 video card with the latest drivers, and my XP installation is up to date. Any idea why this is happening?
