I'll have to be sure and order from a store suggested by CNET perhaps.

I wouldn't unless you've dealt with them or at least HEARD of them before! only way to get it from amazon is resellers. that's out. officedepot, staples, newegg, buy.com. try the usual suspects, but any fly by nighter is likely to have pirated copies, whether they know it or not.

there were many reports of otherwise legit resellers getting burned with pirated copies because the quality of the product was so slick, shrink wrap, manuals, etc. but in many cases adobe would confirm they were pirated and the resellers had to go back up the chain to try to find where they got screwed before passing on the bogus goods to customers.

At the very least, all those error messages should give you comfort that Adobe's anti-piracy features are doing... something.

If you can find someone to sell your CS4 non-extended upgrade to or take a class and get an academic discount that would be the cheapest way to get CS4-Extended.

AutoPano has a trial version so you should probably try that to see how well it works for you. The ease and quality of the stitch depends on the source images. All the images for a panorama are ideally taken from exactly the same point in space as measured by the optical center of your imaging system.

There are panorama heads for hundreds or thousands of dollars that let you do this well, like you'd need to if you were doing them people trying to sell their houses.

If you hand-hold and aren't careful then things will be less than perfect and you may need to work with the panorama to get things to mostly match up and hope that smart-blend will hide the rest of the issues. What makes AutoPano good is you can usually fix things.

I got a fisheye to cut the number of images down from 60 with a 18mm lens on a Digital Rebel to 8 or so. Of course with 60 images the panorama is much higher resolution than with only 8 but my machine wouldn't handle that many images, so a fisheye gives me something I can more easily work with. I have posted a few of mine on a section of my website:

<http://www.sprengels.com/qtvr/>

where you will see links to the other software and a cheap, only somewhat ok, wood and metal panohead, where I usually shoot handheld, anyway in a outdoor natural setting where dicontinuities are hard to see.

The new innovations in CS4 about finding the likely panorama images and the better blending across vignetting images are things tha autopano has been doing for a while, already. The main thing CS4 lets you do, easily, is paint on the panorama when it is wrapped onto the sphere.

The main competition to AutoPano is PTGUI which is a combination of payfor and open-source tools:

Thanks,

I downloaded the trial for AutoPano Pro but can't find how you turn a 2D panorama into a 3D virtual tour.

Love the panos on your site btw! Exactly the sort of stuff I want to do.

Jeff, have a look here to find which graphics cards Adobe tested with CS4.

<http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405711&sliceId=2>

Note, however, that some people using those cards are experiencing problems. If I had it to do over, I'd download the trial of CS4 and test it on my system.

Hey

Have same problem with Brush lag. Have tried all the above and more.

My system:
Gigabyte P35C-DS3R with latest Bios
Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 2.66 Ghz
8 GB Corsair 6400 RAM
Geforce 8800 GT with latest Nvidia driver

Windows Vista Business 64 bit SP1
Photoshop CS4 64 bit

Photoshop performs OK with some kind of work like picture adjustements etc. but I have big problems getting a descent brush respons time. If I raw a brush stroek it takes a lot of time before anything shows up at the screen.

I have tried changing settings in Open GL in PS - and have tried switching it on and off. No result what so ever. Not even a performance difference between on and off.

I have changed Nvidia driver settings (as some one has stated in other posts) with no luck.

I really need no brush lag because I draw a lot in PS. Please help?

:(

you mean activate, not register. registration isn't required, activation is.

so you purchased a serial number, you enter it. it goes to activate and fails. at that point, you should see a telephone # to call. you have to call that if you can't get internet activation to work. only customer service can help with an activation problem.

joe: 3.2 is the last version and at this point you wouldn't be able to download a trial for it, this is why you cannot activate it. You need to use the CS4 version and activate that.

If you ever get to the point where you want to commercially print work like this, be sure to read up on trapping. You will get a similar effect (a gap) unless trapping is done correctly, by you, or by the printer.

Don, I have to admit, I never even heard about trapping. I did a search; you're talking about color trapping right? Looks like print shops tell you what the trapping value and they you enter that value in Photoshop. What's not clear is how to tell whether or not you'll have to do trapping, how would you know, do the print shops tell you?

You can ask the print shop. They might be able to give you a useful answer. Trap all depends on the press being used. In CMYK mode, PS will trap your file for you (Image... trap), but you need the to know final output size to calculate the trap in pixels. Trap for small sheet-fed presses might range from 0.08 to 0.12 pts, which at 300 ppi would convert to 0.3 to 0.5 pixels. So a 1-pixel trap would be the best you could do.

I open Adobe Photoshop. The background is grey. I create a new file with file>new. A dialogue box opens. Name: Untitled-1; Preset: Default Photoshop Size; Width: 7"; Height: 5"; Resolution: 72 pixels/inch; Color Mode: RGB color, 8 bit; Background Contents: White; Image Size: 531.6K. When I click <ok> the screen goes black.

A project was created in InDesign, but the printer only accepts Illustrator.

Is there a way to transfer the project from InDesign to Illustrator (.ai)
while keeping the spot colors spot and the process colors process? I know
the text will become static (shapes instead of editable text) but I can live
with that if I have to. However, the spot vs process issue is a big deal.

Thanks!

Did a quick search, couldn't find anything on the forum...

I have just installed (two days ago) Photoshop CS4 Extended as part of the master suite.
I have also CS3 on the same PC.

Now the channel mixer doesn't show the sliders for tint (hue and saturation); the same happens on the B & W adjustment window.

Also, every time I try to run CS3 (shortcuts or the program itself), CS4 comes up instead.

Thanks in advance!
