[PSP-Snags] Making Buttons or Tags with Borders Using Eye Candy 5 Impact Tutorial

If you have a website then you will enjoy this tutorial. Or wanting to make a tag with this border around them.
For this lesson we will be working with PSP and Eye Candy 5: Impact Bevel.

Start with a new blank image of 88 x 44 if you are making a button. For Tags you want a blank image of 400 x 200. Now let's fill our blank image with a color.
Once you do that I want you to click on Effects, Then Click on Eye Candy 5: Impact then select Bevel.



After you have done that you will have a window pop up. I want you to click on the 2nd Tab. This is called Basic. Set your settings as I have them below.

Bevel Width 10.58
Bevel Height 36
Smoothness 21.31
Rounded Corners 3

Now if you look just underneath your settings you will see Bevel Placement. Make sure that you have Outside Selection Selected.

Under that you have Deepen Darken Areas. Set this to 26.
Then leave the rest unchecked. I have also done a screenshot to help guide you with these steps.
Use these same settings for doing your web buttons as well.




Next one more step click on the next Tab. This is your Lighting Tab.

Set your settings as below.
For your Direction 135
Inclination 45

Highlight Brightness set this at 75 and for your Highlight Size set this at 50.

Next you will have a Highlight color and a Shadow color. Set both of these to white.

After that click OK.

Note: Depending on the color you want for your highlight you can adjust the color to make it lighter or darker. The same with your bevel you can also adjust the size of it once you get the feel on learning how to use it.

Now on mine I took it one more step. I clicked on the last tab for Bevel Profile and clicked on Shapr Peak then selected Custom Profile and moved the lines to make the effect you see in my tags below.

Here are the ones that I did to give you an idea.





Here I did another button changing my Highlight and Shadow color making it darker as well as make my bevel effect smaller.
For website buttons I find that I like to make my buttons a little larger then type my text and resize the button.



You can also do the same when creating a different tag.
