It is normal. Both the 64 and 32 bit versions are installed on Vista x64 systems. You don't have to do anything to remove either one--in fact you shouldn't.

This is the normal situation. Why change it?

You never know when yo might need the 32-bit version and, unless you've messed around with things, the 64-bit version will normally start by default.

Just leave it alone.

There are tutorials on the web. Just type 'Photoshop compositing tutorial' into your internet search bar.

You could also just pick up a copy of Katrin Eismann's Photoshop Masking & Compositing:

Besides the ghost buttons at the top-right, I occasionally see a line running through the top toolbar too. I see this problem on two completely different PC hardware setups, with and without OpenGL support switched on. One is a self-built Core2 Duo with an nVidia card, the other is a Lenovo Thinkpad with integrated Intel graphics. Both are running XP Pro SP3. I tried trashing Ps prefs and updating video drivers. It seems to be a bug in Photoshop. There's a lot of common software between the computers, but I'm not flattening one just to troubleshoot a graphics problem in CS4. I'm surprised I haven't read about this bug more widely.

XP SP3 here, I can reproduce the problem also.

Thanks for the info. I never noticed any trigger before...just the occasional extra set of buttons.

Both the ghost buttons and the line here too. They disappear when I minimise and maximise the window.

I don't worry about them. From all the bugs/side effects described here this is to me the least annoying. (the other, more serious ones have past my door)

XP SP3 here too.

Rob

Someone thinks that dave works for Adobe. Reminds me of the time someone thought John Joslin was an Adobe employee. Which led to the terrible "John broke up the Beatles" rumor. I wonder who started that. Hee Hee Hee....

Um... I stated that I did shut off my AV in the fourth and fifth sentence.

"AVG stated that the setup.exe file is a Trojan Virus variant. Considered it a False Positive and shut that down along with the Windows Firewall and all other AV."

I then continued on with the other fixes. Please read carefully.

Hey Dave, got anything constructive to add to the conversation or are you going to be bitter that I have an advanced study of the operating systems and networking gear I work with on a daily basis?

Just saying...

I've always had the full cursor on my DEll M1730 laptop. I have never had full cursor on the extended monitor (DualView). All other OpenGL functions work on extended monitor (as well as the laptop).

I friend decided he no longer wanted to use Photoshop 7, so he gave me his copy. ::grin::

Knowing that I had a limited amount of time to ride an upgrade on the back of Photoshop 7, I ordered the upgrade of CS3.

When the product arrived, I saw no indication of it being an upgrade. I believe they sent me the full version of CS3. Very powerful and stable version, I might add...packed with features I'd never dreamed were possible.

I can understand why they would have sent the full copy. It's outdated. They need to sell it. The stock of photos is no longer available. Not to worry. I take my own pictures.

How can I know for sure that the copy of CS3 I have is an upgrade? I already had Photoshop 7 installed on the computer at the time of installing CS3, but I didn't see any sign of the installation pausing to search for a formerly installed version.

thx

if it's already on the computer i think it just skips right past that. i'd be more concerned you got a legit copy of cs3 at this late date. you can confirm that by calling adobe and asking that they validate your serial # for you.

First issue: Nobody can give you their copy without transferring the
license with official paperwork and if he used PS 7 at any point for
upgrading, it's completely illegal.

Second issue: if you bought CS3 recently from a non-authorized Adobe
reseller the chances are it's pirated also.

Please do not post a link to the reseller unless it's one of the major
players such as Amazon. If you'd like to email me that information, I'll
check it out.

Click my name, go to my website you'll find contact info there.

Hi Dave. It authenticated online when I installed it.

Robert. I checked out the online store and it's legit. I wouldn't buy an illegal copy. I certainly wouldn't hand over my hard-earned money for an illegit copy. I wouldn't trust a pirated version on my computer. That would compromise the security and whatever else it could manage to damage.

My friend gave me the program and he did not upgrade it...nor was IT an upgrade. He just happened to find GIMP a better program for his needs.

I have an almost new Imac that has the same install problem. Anyone come up with a solution for this with an Apple computer. I have a second Imac that it installed just fine on.
