Here in Canada we have been asked to limit the cards and small gifts to soldiers as well as the flights going over must have room for things that are most needed , so have have started to make cards for the local Legion to distribute to the local veterans that are shut ins. We did them for Easter, For Canada Day, and now have 200 ready to hand in for Christmas . I know it all sound like a wonderful idea but we can not hit them with mass mailings when they have a much more important task to do,. -------Original Message------- Please go to the American Red Cross website. Sending cards to Walter Reed will only be a disaster. The mail department is not capable of handling huge amounts of mail. The American Red Cross is accepting cards for any wounded soldier (rules are on their website) until 12/10. I am sure there are other organizations such as Wounded Warriors that are doing something similar. But sending them to Walter Reed will not work. I am a member of Soldier's Angels and we have our own network. You can go on their website and sign up where you will be given a list of names once a week. Sending cards to our wounded and active duty military is a wonderful idea; but the email gives the wrong information. Jude | |||
