David,
how do I know, wether I need a DirectX or .net update? I thought DirectX 10 (which comes with Vista) is the latest DirectX version.
Are you sure that both of them don`t update if I do a Windows update?

I go to File > automate and Picture Package is not in the pop up menu. I can't access it from Bridge either Tools > Photoshop...Photoshop help says it is still a feature in CS4. What step am I missing? a bug?

There is an option in Bridge under Window-Workspace-Output that brings up a window to enable you to create a PDF contact sheet/picture package.

Not only shrink wrapped and with a manual, but the hologram labels on disc or box are reproduced

Some of these fakes are good enough to fool even the buyers for retail or online outlets... I can't remember the name of the program (simply too many messages and not enough memory space) but I know that I read a report sometime in the last year or so that fake software was being sold by a legitimate store because their wholesale buyer got "stung"

I still buy online, but I ONLY do so from a store that has a good return policy, to cover bad software

look in the help under "actions" and "batch". basically you do you modification while recording an action, then you run the action in a batch on a folder full of images and it processes all of them the way you did the 1st one...

Formerly using other image software, I have just loaded up CS2 and have a quick project to output that has about 1,000 images in it. All the images need to be stretched width wise by about 133%. Can someone direct me to a quick way to do this on ALL the images quickly instead of one by one as I did with my old software? The images are all .BMP's

Also, and second to the above, if someone can direct me to Adobe CS2 tutorials either free online or purchasable on DVD that would be quite helpful.

(on a side note: you realize that by "stretching" 133% - adjusting the width and not the height - you'll be distorting the images right? to keep the image looking normal, you need to adjust the width and height by the same percentage...)

Regarding the side note regarding the distortion part thanks for the input because I could have been headed off course huh? However, that's excatly what I want to do.

These are screen shots off an HDV video that are 1440x1080 non square (which is the same as "squeeze" on a 1920x1080 timeline and are of course in the normal mpeg2 24mbps stream that are 4:3 non square. So, by leaving the height set and stretch the width the non square pixel image actually goes into the image that it was uncompressed to . . a 1920x1080. But doing it manually takes about 8 hours which is a major waste of time wherein a friend said, "use Adobe Photoshop and you'll be done in like 15 minutes."

So I plunged (for other reasons too of course) into Adobe CS2 and not knowing how to even get pics IN Photoshop, I'm trying to get this one out then buy me some videos to learn how to use the software.

I don't know why you are asking this here. You should be talking about this
in the pixel bender forum on the Adobe Labs site.

Robert, I`m asking this here (and I already have in the Pixel Bender forum) because it has to do with Photoshop and because if you take a look at the Pixel Bender forum there are almost no replies to any of the threads over there.

A magnificent tool that *at last* allows one to customise the toolbox. However, a question:

I can find no way to put foreground / background colour onto my personalised toolbox replacement.

Does anyone know how to do this, or what script will produce the same result?

Thanks for pointing out that it's available, I'd missed that.

It's a cool tool but I can't answer your question yet. :)

Hi Mylenium :

A few days ago someone sent me a hand drawn sketch, probably done in paint, that I could not open. I have hundreds if not thousands of .bmp images that were made using a flat bed scanner. I like the format since it maintains the physical size of the scanned object and in prior versions of photoshop distances could be measured with the ruler. But now PS7 will not display in the open dialog box any .bmp file or open it at all.

Hi Ed:

In the folder at:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\Adobe Photoshop Only\File Formats

there are three file formats:
Gif.8bi
Png.8bi
WBMP.8BI

How do I add BMP.8BI and/or if BMP.16BI ?

Have Fun,

Brooke Clarke

According to my experience, PhS can read all common
BMP formats, including 1, 4, 8, 16, 24, 32 bits per
pixel. 16 bpp comes by two versions (IMO relevant,
if at all, only for games).
32 bpp was introduced by PhS 7. The upper 8 bits
are meaningless by Microsoft definition, but it's
not prohibited to use them for some purposes.
There is only one compression available: Runlength
Encoding for 4 or 8 bpp (Indexed Color).

If the BMP import filters should not be available,
then an actual Custom installation is necessary.
The dialogue was (years ago) rather misleading:
one has to take care that all import filters are
really installed.

Hi Gernot:

When I try to open a .bmp file in PS7 with the "all formats" option no .bmp files can be seen. I think I'm missing BMP.8BI in the Plug-Ins folder, but have been searching the internet for it with no luck.

I did find a reference that the version in CS3 had a bug that allowed a .bmp file to execute any code the creator wanted it to. So maybe that file has been removed and is no longer available?

If you can point me to some way to install it that would be great. PS7 has lost a lot of it's value to me if it can not work with .bmp files.

Have Fun,

Brooke Clarke

Karla,

XP allows you to select a larger defaut font size. Go to control panel
then display properties then general and you will see DPI setting change
from normal to Large font.

I have the same problem although my card is an Adobe qualified Nvidia
8800GT. My Primary monitor is a Samsung TFT with DVI input and my
Secondary is a Hitachi 19" crt VGA via DVI adaptor to the dual head card.
I have the latest Nvidia driver and it meets the Adobe open GL standard and
shader level. However I also cannot get CS4 to "ungray" the open GL menu.
I get the error message saying that my card does not meet the Adobe
requirement for open GL.

Perhaps someone will find a solution.

Beemer

New nVidia drivers came out yesterday: 180.48. Running XP SP3, 8800 GTS
With OpenGL on, the full cursor shows on the primary monitor but the image
doesn't show at all on the secondary and the cursor is incomplete at larger
sizes.
With OpenGL off, the full cursor shows on the promary monitor and the image
shows on the secondary but the cursor is still incomplete.

Hi

I tested an ATI HD 3650 DDR2 512 with Photoshop CS4 on Windows XP SP3 and 8.11 drivers.

It works quite well. Some flickering on some Photoshop redraw but I think is normal. Open GL is active in PS and all options can be checked.

Hope it helps.
