I just bought a Canon PixmaPro 9000. Cost around $450 maybe a bit
more than your friend wants to pay, but colour reproduction is superb
and prints up to A3 or 13"x19". I believe any of the Pixma range
produce good results.

Look here for the new designed of the Epson ink cartridge. I don't know
it covers the double-chip or not but this is one of some detailed info about
newer Epson catrigde and copy protection.

Please notice this property tab:

http://patriot.net/~ramon/misc/TIFF-Metadata.png

I would like to insert a short comment in any of those fields which
are visible from the Windows shell. I have tried from inside Photoshop
CS2 but I have only been able to make the copyright appear.

TIA,

-Ramon

You can't do it with Photoshop. Work out which properties Windows is
looking for, then you can use a TIFF utility to set them.
