Curlicue Blinds Tutorial

Written for PSP Photo X1

 

Skill Level:  Intermediate

 

Supplies Needed:

Tube of your choice (Wide or

square works best)

goldbeads Pattern Here

silverbeads Pattern Here

Optional: Accent corner Here

Optional: Accents or Embellishments

 

Filters:

Simple Filters Here

 

Preparation:

Install filter, if necessary

Put goldbeads or silverbeads Pattern

in your PSP Pattern folder

 

Performance Notes: 

All settings remain the same unless

new settings are given.

 

Ok....let's get started!

 

1:  File > Open

Find the tube of your choice

 

2:  Window > Duplicate (Shift + D)

Close original

 

3: Dropper Tool

Choose two colors

Foreground = Light to Medium color  

Background = Dark color  

 

4: File > New > Image

Settings:

Width = 343 Pixels

Height = 300 Pixels

Raster Background = Checked

Transparent = Checked

 

5: Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = RGB Value

Tolerance = 20

Use all layers = UNchecked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Right click to fill with

Background color

 

6: Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds 

Settings:

Width = 4

Opacity = 69

Color = Black

Horizontal = UNchecked

Light from left/top = Checked

 

7: Effects > Distortion Effects > Curlicues

Settings:

Number of columns = 20

Number of rows = 20

Symmetric = Checked

Radius (%) = 100

Strength = 25

Clockwise = UNchecked

 

8: Layers > New Raster Layer

 

9: Materials Palette

Change Background color to goldbeads

Pattern

Settings:

Angle = 0

Scale = 100

Texture = UNchecked

 

10: Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill New Layer with

Pattern

 

11: Selections > Select All

 

12: Selections > Modify > Contract

Settings:

Number of pixels = 3

 

13: Edit > Clear

 

14: Selections > Select None

 

15: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 1

Horizontal = 1

Opacity = 100

Blur = 0.00

Color = Black

Shadow on new layer = UNchecked

 

16: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = -1 (minus)

Horizontal = -1 (minus)

 

17: Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

18: Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 443

Height = 400

Lock aspect ratio = UNchecked

Placement = Center

 

19: Layers > New Raster Layer

 

20: Layers > Arrange > Send to

Bottom

 

21: Flood Fill Tool

Left click to fill New Layer with

Foreground color

 

22: Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Horizontal = Checked

 

23: Effects > Distortion Effects > Curlicues

 

24: Layers > New Raster Layer

 

25: Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill New Layer with Pattern

 

26: Selections > Select All

 

27: Selections > Modify > Contract

Settings:

Number of pixels = 5

 

28: Edit > Clear

 

29: Selections > Modify > Contract

Settings:

Number of pixels = 3

 

30: Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill layer with Pattern

 

31: Selections > Modify > Contract

Settings:

Number of pixels = 5

 

32: Edit > Clear

 

33: Selections > Select None

 

34: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

 

35: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = 1

Horizontal = 1

 

36: Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

37: Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 643

Height= 600

 

38: Layers > New Raster Layer

 

39: Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

 

40: Materials Palette

Change Pattern to Background color

 

41: Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill New Layer with

Background color

 

42: Effects > Texture Effects > Blinds

Settings:

Horizontal = UNchecked

 

43: Effects > Distortion Effects > Curlicues

 

44: Layers > New Raster Layer

 

45: Materials Palette

Change Background color to goldbeads Pattern

 

46: Flood Fill Tool

Right click to fill New Layer with Pattern

 

47: Selections > Select All

 

48: Selections > Modify > Contract

Settings:

Number of pixels = 12

 

49: Edit > Clear

 

50: Selections > Select None

 

51: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

 

52: Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Vertical = -1 (minus)

Horizontal = -1 (minus)

 

53: Activate Tube

 

54: Image > Resize

Settings:

Height = No more than 400 pixels

Width = No more than 400 pixels

(It's ok if some of your image is outside

the innermost border)

 

Optional: Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

 

55: Edit > Copy

 

56: Edit > Paste as New Layer

(on working canvas)

 

57: Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top

 

58: Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel

Settings:

Bevel = # 2

Width = 10

Smoothness = 10

Depth = 6

Ambience = 3

Shininess = 10

Color = White

Angle = 315

Intensity = 35

Elevation = 45

 

59: Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

60: Optional: Image > Resize

Settings:

Height = 500 or your preference

 

61: Add any corners, accents or

text

 

62: Add a Drop Shadow of your

choice to any text, accents or

embellishments

 

63:  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

64:  Add Watermark

 

65: Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

66: File > Export > JPEG Optimizer

Settings:

Compression value set 20 - 25

Note: Do Not Close

Top = 0
Left = 0
Right = 75
Bottom = Height of Frame
 
2: Edit > Copy
 
3: Selections > Select None
Close Frame
 
4: Edit > Paste As New Image

11: Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom

Change Pattern to Background color
