I don't think this idea is any good at all. By following it you have
added yet another single point of failure, a point you do not control.
This said, his root seaching point is very good. Most hotspots don't
protect the surfers from eachother. One cannot call'em irresponsible
either, because the 802.11+ community, and WiFi in perticular have not
made security between clients mandatory. Even if a hotspot is open,
traffic between AP and Client should be protected with a unique key to
protect each client from sniffing. One may say that this is not a
perfect protection because you are still are vulnerable to people who
got control over the hardwires. Such an objection isn't meaningful
though, because it's an attack against how the whole internet works.
We may wish all services offer an end to end protection against
sniffing, but this will never happend. Still we should want to tighten
the greatest security holes.

You need to set up ip masquerading. Since it's a Debian system, you can
install the ipmasq package.

It isn't "viral". The GPL is a license, which is nothing more than a list of conditions set by the
author(s) that you must respect in order to be granted the privilege of accessing that software. If you
"create a derived work" you are still using the software that the original authors have produced. The
original authors don't lose any of their rights on their work just because someone decided to tweak it,
specially if that person acknowledged the set of conditions initially set up.
> I am wondering, what if the person who creates the derived work

Waiver? That doesn't make sense. What that person needs to do is get the authors of that work to agree to
let them access their work under a new set of conditions. To put it in other words, you need to access that
work under a new license which must be willingly provided by the original authors themselves.

That doesn't make any sense. If you pick up a CD/DVD with some other piece of software, lets say MS Office,
then do you believe that the fact that Microsoft will not authorize you to distribute their own work under
any other license that you may see fit means that their license is "viral" ? Does that mean that Microsoft's
license for MS Office is illegal and unenforceable or a non-compete clause?
> Just because the viral

Indeed. Yet, you do not have to right to pick up any copyrighted work and not only ignore it's license but
also make it out to be your own work at the expenses of the work's rightful owners.

The entry for "sensitive". There is no entry for "sensetive".
Oh, by the way, you might want to check the Google Groups Terms of
Service, specifically section 6:
You agree that [...] you will not:
* defame, abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the
legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others;
* post any inappropriate, defamatory, infringing, obscene, or
unlawful Content;

I'm truely a libertarian, further more, of such kind who love to make
fun of dumb fucks who didn't understand yet, the only reason behind
language, is to get understood, and not to follow certain rules. Can I

No, dumb fuck, in any reasonable world my question stands unanswered.
Just because I mistyped a word doesn't mean I don't know how to spell
it.
Is it fun to be an extreamly dumb fuck?

This is not an acceptable way doint it. I need assurance I get every
single byte regardless which bit combination. No filtering. Not even
suspision of filtering of any kind. Your high level sollution just
doesn't cut it. Do you got an idea of a software that is made
exclusively for my needs, or do I have to go Windows, again?

I am building a P4 machine for my dear old mom.
Someone gave me a motherboard, and I simply couldn't locate any info
for it.
Here are the specs for the motherboard:
478 socket
red color
4 PCI slots
1 AGP 8X slot
2 banks for DIMM
2 banks for DDR
The chipsets are VIA VT8233 and PC400.
It also has
2 USB ports
1 sound port (with 3 holes, red, blue and green)
1 parallel port
2 serial ports
The BIOS is AMI.
Since there is no marking on the board identifies its maker and model,
I don't know where to obtain the required drivers for it.
Can anyone please tell me if there is a motherboard search engine
anywhere, to help me identify this motherboard?
Thank you all !

There ought to be an FCC approval ID somewhere on it. You can search on
that in the FCC.govsite to locate the maker and board model.

don't modern OS install routines probe the board and self select and
provide needed drivers?

Try dmidecode.
Followups set to comp.os.linux.hardware.

CPU-Z might do it....
It's better for you to take a HD photo of your motherboard and attach a
URL link to it here.
