[fnftwo] ANZAC - We will remember them

Today is ANZAC (Australian, New Zeland Army Corps) day in New Zealand
and Australia, much like Veterens day in other countries. So in their honour
and to remember them I made this stationery.
Below is is a poem I wrote a few years ago after attending ANZAC day services.

Where Sleeping Soldiers Lie

Looking around me few veterens remain
From wars that took place long ago
I close my eyes and imagine the scene
As I sing the hymns so slow
"In Flanders fields the poppies blow between the crosses row on row."
These words remembered on this day
Of men that died so far away
Did they really beleive when they answered the call
That this was the war to end all wars
Were they lured by slogans like 'Your country needs you'
A single bright shillings the pay
Off they sailed to distant shores
Enlisting in the fray
Their heads held high, stauch and proud
Clad in khaki marching along
Were they really prepared to sacrifice
Their lives when they joined the brave throng
They dug trenches and foxholes, places to hide
To protect them from bullet and shell
Knee deep in mud they fought the foe
In the killing fields of hell
Bloodied and maimed they stumbled and fell
Where they stood, on this barren land
In their arms their mates held them giving comfort and solace
Unable to make their last stand
No bombs, no barbed wire, no guns firing now
Only graves that bare the blood stain
As the silence has fallen on the poppy fields
Dead are sleeping, the living remain
I stand at the cenotaph to honour the dead
And I think of the future of our youth
The soldiers that fought in these gruesome wars
Fought and died for our peace and truth

"No greater love has any man, than to lay down his life for another."

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
