Vista 64 here too, and I don't recall changing the default behaviour for pop-ups.

Correction: I checked some other files such as :

Adobe DNG Converter.exe
ExtendScript Toolkit.exe
AdobeOwl.dll
adobe_eula.dll

and thay all have the file version and company listed in the details pane as well as in any pop-up (when that feature is enabled).

But so far I cannot find any plugins that display version info.

I see that Genuine Fractals includes a "version.txt' file with the version info.

Perhaps it's a limitation of the plugin format? Or do you really see the version details of Camera Raw.8bi and other plugins ?

Thanks for helping John. I know this isn't a WindowsOS forum. But it relates to updates that Adobe releases which apparently don't include embedded version info that's visible to folks using Vista. I don't assume this isn't going to change with Windows7.

Right, I just checked the ACR plug-in and it doesn't give version number. Only the date gives a clue.

I know this isn't a Windows OS forum.

Was it you in the NT forums a few years back?

Thanks :-) I at least know now that I'm not missing something.

Can't remember that. Do you mean an NT newsgroup? I've posted questions in newsgroups once in a while over the years, though I find the activity there a lot less then a years ago. Mostly relaced with web forums.

Didn't know Adobe had an NT forum..

Might have been on Compuserve (in the real old days).

:-)

That's what I meant, Compuserve. I guess it was in the early/mid-90s.

Bridge Output module is suppose to replace it (under the PDF section) but you can also install the old legacy Picture Package from the Goodies folder on the installation disk.

Ah, same resolution for all files. Got it. :)

As far as your CMYK issue, I think I'd hesitate to run any job at a shop where I couldn't communicate with the staff. Are you tied to this particular printer for some reason?

The Color Management forum deals more with international commercial print standards. They might be able to help you answer this one.

Hey guys,
Using CS3.
Made quite a long action with around 5 or so liquify distortions. When I got to run the action, it loads the liquify screen but then just stops and waits until I manually do some work and press enter or cancel. Pressing cancel brings me back to the canvas and the action stops.

Is there anyway I can force or otherwise PS to remember what I did during my edits from the liquified screen? Is this what the 'save mesh' command is for within the liquify tool? Am I doing something stupid? Please help as I really need to get liquifying recorded!
Thanks,
marv.

Yes, save mesh will remember the distortions you made. The canvas size must be the same size in order for it to make the same distortion, although the resolution can be different. In other words, you could liquify on a low resolution version of your image, save the mesh, then load that mesh on a high resolution version of that same image or image of identical size.

Thanks a lot PeterK. Sounds like quite a bit of work to get the mesh the same size :/
Do you have a link which explains saving & reusing meshes per chance? I couldn't much about it on G.

Also Peter, do you know if the action can automatically load, execute and then return the result to the canvas? I don't want to turn into a complete monkey!

I think you misunderstood me. You can use the mesh on images of the same size but different resolutions, but you don't have to if you don't want to. Simply do your distortions, save the mesh, then load it for any image of the same size and all your distortions will be applied. Note that if you go into and out of liquify, the mesh will not remember the distortions you made in previous liquify adjustments. Any mesh you save will only remember the distortions you applied within that current instance of the filter.
I don't know how liquify may interact with an action, so you'll have to test that yourself.

I don't know about "help" files, but I do know that every Adobe product I own has, either on the disc (CD or DVD) or someplease on Adobe's site for that product (you will have to look) a full copy of the user guide as a PDF

Go to the product support pages for each product (not here, this is a discussion forum) and click around until you find the link to the PDF

For Acrobat (current version) that is
<http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/acrobatpro/>

At the top-left look for
Using Acrobat 9 Pro
Provides regularly updated and comprehensive task-based information.
LiveDocs | PDF

You of course click on the PDF link... right click and choose the save option to save to your hard drive

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the late reply on this. You are indeed likely seeing a known limitation importing Collada files with CS4. The workaround is to go to the Materials section of the 3D panel and check the Opacity settings; move them from 0% to see the model.

regards,
steve

Hi BluNos :-),

I think you're hitting an import limitation stemming from a format specification change. I'm looking for Adobe documentation on the subject.

After you import the DAE and then set the material Opacity to 100%, go to 3D> Export 3D Layer... Save this out as a DAE. Now see if this imports with Opacity at 100%.

For the texture wrapping (picture on shape), this is controlled by the UV mapping and setup is very dependent on the shape of the model and what you want to accomplish. The canned presets have been mapped using a 3D modeler. For some more background on Ps usage try this link:
<http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/11.0/WS0BA787A7-E4AC-4183-8AB7-55440C51F95B.html#WSE3192200-39B6-4703-87D9-AA0C75E47258>

Thanks for the schooner info. Now I know the name of the ship on the Canadian dime.

"When the index is running, it generally won't affect your computer's performance. When you make changes to files, however, the index quickly updates those changes, momentarily putting a small additional load on your computer's resources"

Copied this from the windows help site. According to what is indexed: pictures are one of them.

Without having any idea what you are seeing:
Some processing steps/filters add banding that is more prominent in some
images than others.
If the image originated as a jpeg and has banding I don't what can be done
about it.
A freshly opened raw image should not have banding, barring some major
camera problem, so the banding has to have been added somewhere in your
processing steps.
