Re: [photoshop-beginners] Changing words

Hi George

Another way to achieve what you want is to use smart filters.

With CS3 and CS4 you can convert your text to a smart filter and then it will be editable.

You need to type your text and apply the blending modes that you desire. Then right click in your layers palette and choose "convert to smart object" and save the file.

Next, double click on the text thumbnail which will bring up another window with your text in it. Double click on the layer thumbnail again to highlight the text. Now re-type the new word and hit save.
Close the window and your text will be updated on the original window with all the blending options in tact. Then you will need  to save this as a new file.

Continue making each of the numbers by double clicking on the layer thumbnail>double click again to highlight text>change text>save and close window.

My suggestion would be to do the number with the most letters first, otherwise you have to resize the letters to fit in the new editing window.

I don't know what blending modes you've used, but I just added a bevel, an inner shadow and a pattern to the text to try it out and it works ok.

Hope you can understand my instructions. Let me know if you have trouble with it.

Best wishes

Joy

hello all,
I have the word ONE to which I have applied Blending Options to make it
look like glass text and have saved it. Now I need to do the same for
the words TWO, THREE up to TWENTY.
My question is, rather that having to apply all the blending options to
each word in turn is it possible to just delete the word ONE and type
in TWO then delete TWO and type in the word THREE etc and still have
all the blending options already applied.
I hope that this makes sense to you.
If it is possible could you please explain how to a novice.
Using CS3.
T.I.A.,
George.
