Hi Joan.
You shouldn't have any problems. The XSi (aka EOS 450D) is supported
by ACR 4.5 and CS 3.
At the risk of repeating myself, you can always download the latest
version of Adobe's DNG converter with the latest ACR engine and
support for newer cameras. It is a free, stand-alone application.
Use the DNG converter to convert your proprietary raw files to DNG and
then CS 3 can deal with them, even if your proprietary format is newer
than CS 3. (You can even retain the original raw format *within* the
DNG file if you wish.)
