I can load an image, do some editing, but as soon as I try to save or save as, the save dialog box flashes on the screen for a fraction of a second, then disappears. Now you can't do anything, program hangs up. I try to end the program from windows, says it doesn't want to end because its waiting for a response from me. It seems like the save dialog box is getting hidden when it shouldn't.

Any ideas??

thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

Your dialog probably goes off screen. You can Esc out of the "freeze".

Reset the preferences per the FAQ on tis forum listing.

Rob,
Thank you, I was able to esc out. I had deleted the preferences file first, but this made no difference.

What I found was the save dialog was same size as the workspace and hiding behind it. escape brought it to the front, and from then on it stayed in front of all other windows.

So, thanks again,

Jeff

As I remember CS2 is not supported in Vista, but that does not mean it won't work. CS3 is supported and works well. Am a little confused as Photoshop 7 is way older than CS2, and therefore not an "upgrade". CS4 is current version, but you need a fairly new computer and video card to run it successfully.

Since Adobe does not sell outdated versions be careful of getting a counterfeit version.

Also Photoshop 7 is now out of the upgrade loop so will do you no good as an upgradable product.

I would think not due to lack of postings. My 3d menu is always there and works as advertised so I cannot give you any help. I would call adobe tech support as they may have the answers or troubleshoot with you.

I don't think that there is such a table. I did a quick Google check and
it seems that 70dpi is common for a billboard of the size your looking
to do. You should ask the people that is going to print the file what
they want. One of the sites I looked at wanted the source file for that
large of print to be 300ppi (remember, ppi is not the same as dpi) and
1/12 the finished size. It would be very impracticable to try to send a
full size file to the printing company.

70 ppi? I'd be thinking more along the lines of 20-25 ppi tops

I just downloaded the Photoshop CS4 trial to try something.
I need to scale and resize images for use on our web site.
Our images are not evenly proportioned, some are 400 x 400 or 400 x 200, ect.
I would like to make them scale down to fit within a 240px x 240px image.
We have thousands of images to do and 3 other sizes to scale the same images to.
Can this be done using the batch automate and record the steps?

Thanks

Howdy,

I have a small niglling issue with my copy of Photoshop CS3 on Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I never use to get.

For the past several months I have had to click the PS icon (usually in my quick launch) several times before photoshop will actually boot up. Sometimes I can get PS to boot up on the first click, sometimes 2 (usually) but other times I have to click it bout 6+ times before I see the PS splash screen and it starts?

However, PS is doing something on this non-booting clicks, cos my Task Manager shows I have several processes of PS running, but they all use significantly less memory than the actual opened PS. So for example, if I had to click 6 times, the one that is open may be using 71k, but all the other ones will be using 4k, I then manually stop those processes and PS works fine.

Here is a screengrab example of my process list when this happens: <http://www.btinternet.com/~s.mckeogh/photoshop.gif>

This isn't a major problem cos I can get PS to boot and function as it is suppose to, but it its somewhat annoying when I have to keep doing this process everytime I want to run PS.

My specs (incase its needed) are:

Windows Vista Ultimate Retail x64
Intel Q9550 @ 3.6GHz
4GB PC2-8500 Corsair Dominator Ram
1x 150GB WD Velociraptor 10,000RPM HDD
1x 1TB Samsung F1 HDD

Also, incase it matters, I have a copy of Flash CS3 installed too, both PS and Flash are 100% legimate copies.

Any help will be appreciated!

I run Photoshop CS4 on a Windows PC with 4GB. Even though I frequently
"purge", Photoshop does not seem to be releasing RAM even when all files
have been closed, often holding on to some 2GB RAM. Only when I terminate
Photoshop, the RAM it grabbed is released. This means I would have to exit
and relaunch Photoshop many times a day.

Any suggestions?

This is normal and designed behavior, to avoid memory fragmentation. The RAM will be reused.

After I first installed CS4, when I would use the clone tool I could see what was going to be cloned inside the brush circle as I moved it around the picture. Today, as I try to use the clone (or healing brush for that matter) all I get inside the brush circle is white. Not the area that I Alt-Click on as before. I have restored default preferences in case I accidently changed a setting that controls this feature but that didn't help.

How to I get back to being able to see the clone source inside the brush circle??

Thanks

Adobe is literally killing the several thousands of web developers & designers who use photoshop to build graphics for the web.

Seeing how Adobe and the WWW are synonymous, I would have thought Adobe would have had this fixed by now.

The contract tool was an easy way to get a good solid border - the "frame" tool sucks because it gives too soft of an edge. We shouldn't HAVE to do work-arounds. That's a lame cop-out.

I just bought this version and am confused as to where the extra tools are when I click the little triangle on the tools. There is supposed to be a red eye removal tool on the "healing brush"..but I cannot find it. Where are these extra tools..I thought they CAME with it?
