Yes, tried removing plugins from plugin folder. No difference. No 3rd party plugins on my laptop anyway.
Also, should point out that not only are my computers using different graphics cards, they are also operating at different native resolutions.
Being an IT sort of guy, I tend to run my computers in a very stripped-down state, to maximise performance and free memory, so there isn't much chance of other software interfering, unless it's a conflicting DLL or somesuch thing. Both PCs are running NOD32 anti-virus, and have Epson inkjet printer drivers. Other than that, I can't think of anything else they have in common.

John - when you say that I may have been talking to call centre drongos, you're probably right. I'll go back and make sure I get a recording next time. I wouldn't mind but apparently I was speaking to the head of the department. I didn't take any names so I guess that was my fault.

I've re-read my email and as much as it seemed like I'd taken out all the emotion at the time, coming back and looking again I can see that it's still very obvious I'm fairly upset about all this.

Sorry, It's just that so far I've spent 6 hours on the phone, which is about 24 photos retouched (a decent bit of money when I can do it properly). Now it looks like I'm going to have to be on hold for another few hours tomorrow. I'm frustrated and I'm lashing out where I shouldn't. Sorry again. I've turned in a couple of pieces that looked fine on my (bluish) monitor but looked horrible when I was being shown why I'm getting less work now.

My main client pays for me to get a recalibration every 6 months but I'm finding I need one every few weeks. If I wasn't friends with someone that recalibrates monitors for a living I'd have to pay $100 a pop. I'm getting one every couple of weeks at the moment and I'm at the point of tearing my hair out here.

I'm saying this more so that you can understand where I'm coming from here rather than as some sort of justification of my earlier post. I know that I shouldn't be rude to people that are trying to help me and again, I'm sorry.

In terms of "another potential source of error" though, I should point out that I only came here as a last resort - I don't get this problem when I run any other applications on either laptop. I have spent a lot of time on the phone to both asus and acer over the last few months. I was a bit quick to point the finger but I've spent a lot of time ruling out other options.

I recognise that by saying it's your code's problem I'm almost saying that your baby is ugly and I really shouldn't have gone so far earlier. Honestly though, if you could at least give me some ammunition when I call the other various hardware support places I would be eternally grateful.

Wolf - As mentioned, I have a friend that can recalibrate my monitor for free. It's getting to the point where I'm being really demanding and he just keeps giving out of the goodness of his heart. I appreciate that that's what you guys are doing also and I hope people haven't been put off my the harshness of my earlier message. I'm just really really frustrated by all of this.

We are mainly fellow-users here. But we are glad when people like Chris pop in.

I think it would be cheaper in the long run to buy a calibrator such as the X-Rite Eye-One Display2 (about £100 here) and know your monitor is correctly profiled.

...And doing it every couple of weeks isn't absurd. I do that. Which, of course, doesn't mean that things I do aren't absurd, because they are!

Stephen, you say that you are using a Acer Aspire 5670 monitor. Is this a monitor or is it a laptop screen? The Acer website does not list a 5670 monitor.
You say your screen goes a little bit bluer when you close down Photoshop. If you re-open Photoshop does the blue go away?
What is your RGB working space in Color settings?
Geoff.

Well I'm sitting at PC with Vista Ultimate. The script runs fine on my computer using either CS1 or CS3.

I always use Binary Search and it does a great job with minimal loss of image.

No idea why it is not working for you.

I need to know how to focus in an psd extension file on an image/symbole and make of that a picture with the common extensions ,also how to declare in any point of the psd the color code and to know the font properties too.

the color can be gotten by moving the color picker cursor around and watching in the color palette, or using the move tool and watching the info palette.

the font, as long as the text is editable, select the type layer and open the character palette and it'll be listed there. if the font is embedded (rasterized) there's nothing you can do except guess.

there are some websites that can help you, where they have utilities and experts on font faces who might help you to identify something...

I think I might have found something more. I reinstalled the video driver to be on the safe side. Then ran photoshop as administrator, no problem. Then as normal user and I got the video driver message, as well as a crash when opening a file. Then I ran it again as administrator and it was not complaining about the video driver. So maybe photoshop accesses a part of my video driver that due to file permissions is only accessible to the administrator, any ideas of what that would be ?

I have the impression that this problem is linked to my other problem mentioned in the thread (http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b7aa30/4) since I seem to get the video driver problem when running photoshop from anything other than an administrator account.

that's possible wim, or it might be simply you have different video card settings between the admin account and the user that you want to log in with.

suggest you compare all settings side by side with screen shots from both accounts.

Hi, since I did not change anything to the video driver settings on any of the accounts, I doubt that to be the problem. I will make a comparison though. I have tried it with multiple new profiles in the past too, and the profile issue seemed persistent. Hopefully some of the developers can tell me how they wrote the software in relation to this ...

Are you able to change the background gray (the darker one)?

Thanks,

Full-monitor screenshots?

Shots of smaller application windows, dialogues or menus?

Please provide some physical dimensions (i.e.: inches W × inches H) you wish for these items to appear. For example: If a dialogue box captures at 300pxW × 400pxH, how big in INCHES (or cm) do you want it to print at?

Understand that for large/grand format printing often you can get away with printing at 72dpi, or even 36 dpi, because they're usually viewed from a distance of 4 feet or more.

Screenshots are tough to enlarge to any great magnification because the pixel data just doesn't exist.

If you want that 300pxW × 400pxH dialogue box to appear crystal clear when printed at 48 inches W × 64 inches H, it just isn't going to happen.

If you have Vista, use the 'Snipping Tool', it is a Windows Accessory.

I like the freeform option for the snipping tool.

The Mac OS has had most of the rest of it covered for quite awhile; freeform would be a nice addition.

Huh? You should only be registering the software once. I am surprised that you were allowed to re-register it again. You have to activate for each computer, but registration should only happen once.

Ok, I just found a simple way to correct this for me. Copy two files, which should be on your hard drive already, "versioncue.dll" and "versioncueCI.dll" and drop them into your windows/system32 folder.

I found the files in my Adobe InCopy CS3 folder.

Hope this works for you!!

Valerie

btw.. the client update would not work for me. It kept saying unsuccessful.

I'll go ahead and call, just for the peace of mind. But it did SOMETHING to gain internet access, and I don't think I've registered it yet. And don't worry, that WILL happen. I always register my products. I even registered my bikes when I was a kid, but they got stolen anyway, and the police did nothing. Oh well. It's just one of those many life lessons that teach you a few things...like carry a gun.
