This was made using PSP 9

...other versions might need adjustments

 

Skill level - Advanced Beginner

 

Supplies Needed 

 

A Mist or Tube of your choice

 

Fr.Tap-0.0gam sel.

Fr.Tap-0.1gam sel.

Fr.Tap-0.2gam sel.

Fr.Tap-0.3gam sel.

Tapestry Rod - gam

Available Here

 

Filters

 

Simple > Top Left Mirror

Simple > Pizza Slice Mirror

Simple > Quick Tile

Available Here

Filter Factory Gallery N > Yage

Available Here

 

Preparation

 

Open and save the selections into your My PSP Selections folder.

Open the Tapestry Rod in your PSP

 

Let's Get Started
 
1.  File > Open
Find your mist/tube
 
2. Window > Duplicate or (Shift +D)
to duplicate your mist/tube
Close original
 
3. Dropper Tool
Choose two colors
Foreground = Medium/dark color
Background = Light/Medium color
 
4. Materials Palette
Change your Background to Gradient
Settings:
Gradient = Foreground-background
Style = Linear
Angle = 45
Repeats = 5
Invert = Not checked
Texture = Not checked
 
5. Image > Resize
Settings:
Resample using = Bicubic
Lock aspect ratio = Checked
Resize all layers = Checked
Width = No more than 250 Pixels
Height = 300 Pixels
 
*Optional
6. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
Minimize
 
7. File > New
Settings:
Width = 300 Pixels
Height = 400 Pixels
Raster Background = Checked
Transparent = Checked
 
8. Flood Fill Tool

Settings:

Match mode = None

Sample merged = Not checked

Blend mode = Normal

Opacity = 100

Fill selection with your gradient

 

9. Effects > Distortion Effects > Twirl

Settings:

Degrees = 400

 

10. Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur

Settings:

Radius = 15

 

11. Effects > Plugins >

Filter Factory Gallery N > Yage

Settings:

Quagmire = 3

Abyss = 204

 

12. Effects > Plugins > Simple >

Pizza Slice Mirror

 

13. Effects > Plugins > Simple >

Top Left Mirror

 

14. Selections > Load/Save Selection >

Load Selection From Disk
Settings:
Find your Fr.Tap-0.0gam sel
Create selection from = Source luminance
Operation = Replace selection
Options Move to upper left = Not checked
Invert selection = Not checked
 
15. Selections > Promote Selection to Layer
 
16. Selections > Select None
 
17. Layers Palette
Close your bottom layer making sure to keep the top layer active
 
18. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
 
19. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 45
Blur = 20.00
Color = Black
Shadow on new layer = Not checked
 
20. Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Disk
Settings:
Find your Fr.Tap-0.1gam sel.
 
21. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
22. Flood Fill Tool
Fill selected areas with your dark color
 
23. Selections > Select None
 
24. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 70
Blur = 1
Color = Dark Color
 
25. Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Disk
Settings:
Find your Fr.Tap-0.2gam sel.
 
26. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
27. Flood Fill Tool
Fill selected areas with your gradient
 
28. Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 5
 
29. Selections > Select None
 
30. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise
Settings:
Gaussian
Noise = 20
Monochrome = Checked
 
31. Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen
 
32. Selections > Load/Save Selection >
Load Selection From Disk
Settings:
Find your Fr.Tap-0.3gam sel.
 
33. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
34. Flood Fill Tool
Fill selected areas with your dark color
 
35. Selections > Select None
 
36. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
 
37. Layers > Merge > Merge Down
 
38. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 2
Opacity = 55
Blur = 5
Color = Black
 
39. Bring up your lowered Tapestry Rod
 
40. Edit > Copy
Minimize
 
41. Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer
 
42. Move Tool
Click on your Tapestry Rod then using the arrow keys on your keyboard move the rod to the top so that it is just lower than the top of the tabs.

43. Layers > Arrange > Move Down
 
44. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
 
45. Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
 
46. Layers Palette
Open your bottom layer and make active
 
47. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
48. Flood Fill Tool
Fill this layer with your dark color
 
49. Layers Palette
Lower the opacity to 60
 
50. Bring up your lowered mist/tube
 
51. Edit > Copy
Minimize
 
52. Edit > Paste > Paste As New Layer
 
53. Effects > Distortion > Punch
Settings:
Strength = 50
 
54. Adjust > Blur > Gaussian Blur
Settings:
Radius = 8
 
55. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise
Settings:
Noise = 10
 
Optional:
56. Layers Palette
Lower the opacity on this layer to your liking if too loud
 
57. Edit > Paste As New Layer
Note: If your image is no longer on
your clipboard, just copy it again at
this time.
 
58. Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top
 
59. Move Tool
Position your image on the canvas to your liking leaving room if you want to add some text.
 
60. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 3
Opacity = 50
Blur = 7
Note:
If using a mist, you can leave off the drop shadow
 
Optional:
61. At this time add text or decoration
 
62.  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible
 
63. Image > Canvas Size
Settings:
Width = 1280 Pixels (or your preference)
Height = 400 Pixels
Lock aspect ratio = Not checked
Placement = Left/Middle
 
64. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
65. Layers > Arrange > Send to Bottom
 
66. Flood Fill Tool
Fill this layer with one of your colors
 
67. Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise
 
68. Adjust > Blur > Motion Blur
Settings:
Angle = 270
Strength = 80
 
69. Effects > Plugins > Simple >
Quick Tile
 
70. Layers Palette
Make your top layer active
 
71. Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Settings:
Vertical & Horizontal = 3
Opacity = 45
Blur = 20
Shadow on new layer = Checked
 
72. Effects > Image Effects > Seamless Tiling
Settings:
Edge & Vertical = Checked
Width = 50
Transition = 50
Only the drop shadow will be tiled
 
73. Layers > New Raster Layer
 
74. Layers > Arrange > Bring to Top
 
75. Add your Watermark
 
76. File > Export > JPEG Optimizer
Settings:
Set compression value to = 20
