passando poi a dipingere luci/ombre/mezzitoni, volumi, sfumature,
labbra, occhi, capelli e ritocchi finali.

have a look at whats happening through Bridge when camera raw is used to
open up a file.

there has been some good tutorials as to all the functions when using
camera raw in bridge. (google)

That does indeed make no sense, and that's not what Adobe says either.
Vibrance increases the saturation, but not for all colors to the same
extend (as Saturation does). It increases unsaturated colors more than
saturated colors, and it tries to preserve skintones in the process.
Does that make sense?

The easy version:
You can increased the saturation of all colors across contrast ranges or
only the colors within a limited contrast range, in this case sort of the
mid-tones for Vibrance.
How useful the Vibrance tool is for you is, of course, a matter of taste.
Color ranges that correspond to, ahem, Caucasian flesh tones, can be
numerically excluded. Nikon NX has this feature also.
There are other ways to amplify the midtones, including a well documented
trick using Lab color mode.

I am using CS3 on Vista. I have been using on XP with many filters from
other sources. When I copied these filters in to the CS3 program they do
not show up when I open a photo and try to apply a filter. All of the
Photoshop filters work well, but the program will not run installed filters
such a Sketch.

Thanks,

John Farese

Have you tried running CS3 using Vista's compatibility mode? I don't
have Vista so it's just a guess:

Let's say I have a favorite jpeg image scaled down to 640 pixels wide.
This favorite image has a name "myimage.jpg"

But I cannot find the raw original, as it came off the camera.
I suspect I still have this image somewhere, probably with a name
like dscn_1492.jpg

But my home-rolled system of dated holding directories has failed me.
I can't find the original.

Is it possible to write a program (perhaps in bash and perl) that could
read something of the jpeg header of the scaled-down copy, and use that
as a search key for examining all the others?

for file in `find / -name "dscn*jpg"`
do
.....read $file's header, compare that to
specific header parts from the scaled down original
print $file break and exit if comparison is true...
done

....anybody know how to do this?

I'm not insecure at all, but no one has done the things you speak of...

No, I "dumped" about $5000 on DSLR's and glass, and I LOVE the great photo's I'm
getting.

What I do regret is having bought a couple of 'P&S' cameras for $2500 over the
last few years, and getting the worst shit pictures I've ever seen! I regret
only getting $150 for a Minolta Dimage I paid $1500 for. I regret having shit
photos of my late Sister and Father taken on P&S crap cameras. I wish I had
better images of the past. I wish I had got a DSLR in 2000 instead of the P&S
shit.

I agree, I wasted a fortune on P&S CRAP before I got a DSLR.

Yes. And we live in a world where 95% of everything isn't what its, "claimed
to be".

On one of those rare occasions when my family was together, somebody
suggested a family photograph. Unfortunately, it was warm inside and
cold outside so the image ended up with the top half of the photograph
washed out, almost fogged over, while the bottom half is fine. There
are a couple of other minor flaws as well (trees growing out of my
brothers head, another brothers hair messed up) but I have been able
to fix these. Any ideas on how to get the big problem resolved. I am
a newbie who uses PSE for organization and minor adjustments and have
recently upgraded to PSE 7.
